10 MCU Characters That Redditors Predict Will Kill Kang

The recently released trailer for Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania gave fans their first glimpse at the MCU’s next Thanos-sized big bad. After first appearing as a variant called “He Who Remains” in Loki’s season 1 finale, Jonathan Majors’ portrayal of Kang the Conqueror can be seen in all its glory in the Quantumania teaser. Kang is being set up as the main villain of “The Multiverse Saga,” building to his reign of terror in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2025.

At the end of “The Infinity Saga,” the MCU’s last interconnected narrative undertaking, the Mad Titan was killed by Tony Stark. From Loki to Reed Richards to Peter Parker to an alternate version of Kang himself, Redditors have a few interesting theories for who will get to kill Kang.

10 Scott Lang

A lot of Marvel fans are expecting Kang to kill Scott Lang when he’s introduced as Marvel’s next major threat in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but maybe it’ll be the other way around. Redditor u/KoyashP writes, “I would love if Ant-Man was the one who defeats him.”

Since Kang is making his official debut in an Ant-Man movie, it would make sense for Ant-Man to become his arch-nemesis and the Avenger who delivers the final death blow in The Kang Dynasty.

9 A Kang Variant

Redditor u/IronMan_MarkLXXXV writes, “It would be pretty cool if it’s another version of Kang who lands the KO.” It would certainly be surprising if the MCU’s next big villain is killed by one of his other selves instead of going down in a blaze of glory in battle with one of the Avengers.

This ending was already telegraphed in the Loki finale when He Who Remains described a multiversal war between various different variants of Kang that ended with him dominating space-time.

8 Sylvie

In a Reddit thread about who will kill Kang, u/Heby4life posted, “Sylvie [will kill Kang] because she started it, [so] it would be a cool thing if she ended it.” Introduced in the first season of Loki, Sylvie is a variant of the trickster god who’s even more mischievous than the one fans already knew.

Sylvie essentially created the multiverse that became Marvel’s sandbox in Phase Four when she killed He Who Remains and disrupted the stability of the “Sacred Timeline.”

7 Reed Richards

Reed Richards made his long-awaited MCU debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, complete with John Krasinski’s stunt casting, in a universe where he got turned into spaghetti by the Scarlet Witch. Marvel Studios is set to introduce its primary version of Mr. Fantastic in a highly anticipated Fantastic Four reboot in 2025, bringing him into the mainline MCU ensemble.

Redditor u/GuilRosmer predicts that Reed could kill Kang, a fellow member of the Richards family: “Kang is a distant relative of his after all. It might be poetic to begin that phase with the Fantastic Four and end it with Reed putting one of his own to rest. Especially if they really, really focus on the Fantastic Four being about family before revealing (to the audience/Reed and Sue) Kang is family.”

6 Wanda Maximoff

After holding the town of Westview hostage, getting corrupted by the Darkhold, and becoming a full-blown supervillain, Wanda Maximoff is in dire need of some good old-fashioned redemption. According to Redditor u/cbekel3618, she could achieve that redemption by killing Kang.

The Redditor writes, “Aside from another Kang variant (which would be very fitting), I could see Wanda or Loki doing it. Either of those two defeating Kang could work well for their arcs, showing them go from antiheroes/antagonists to working to rescue all of reality.”

5 Loki

Redditor u/BronzeMeadow was quite taken with u/cbekel3618’s theory that the God of Mischief could kill Kang. In the same thread, they replied, “I like the thought of Loki, especially because Mobius pointed out how good Loki is at losing. Make it a big win, he needs it.”

In addition to that, the Redditor adds, it would book-end the Multiverse Saga nicely: “Loki is directly responsible for opening the multiverse, so it’s fitting that he would have a huge part in dealing with the consequences of that.”

4 Peter Parker

Redditor u/hypocritical__hippo named Spider-Man as “a wildcard option” for the Avenger who could kill Kang in the MCU, writing that it “would be a good symbolic sacrifice for Peter to die the way his mentor/father figure did: paving the way for a brighter future for the Avengers (maybe even help create the Young Avengers through his sacrifice?).”

“It’d also be a neat way for Tom Holland to wrap up his time as Spider-Man,” the Redditor adds, “and hand off the title to a new actor as Miles Morales.”

3 Shang-Chi

In a thread about which Avenger will get to kill Kang, Redditor u/Salfriel posted, “My money is on Shang-Chi.” Besides his otherworldly martial arts skills, Shang-Chi doesn’t have any cosmic superpowers – but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t kick Kang’s butt with the might of the Ten Rings.

The fact that Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton has been tapped to helm The Kang Dynasty could be a hint that Shang-Chi will be crucial to defeating Kang.

2 Stephen Strange

After he dream-walked across the multiverse, inspired America Chavez to harness her interdimensional superpowers, and caused a catastrophic incursion that threatened his reality, it’s safe to say that Stephen Strange will be pretty crucial to the Multiverse Saga and the fight against Kang.

Redditor u/SP1570 believes that Kang will get more than one death scene in the MCU’s sprawling multiverse, but Strange will be responsible for the last one: “We will get multiple killing blows, so everyone could get his chance… IMHO the final/final/final blow will be for Doctor Strange.”

1 Doctor Doom

One of the most interesting theories about who will kill Kang is that it won’t be an Avenger at all, but rather a different villain to establish himself as an even greater threat. The Kang Dynasty is set to lead directly into Secret Wars, a storyline that sees Doctor Doom folding Marvel’s multiverse into one single location called Battleworld for a big battle royale between superheroes.

Redditor u/bumgrub writes that it “would be so epic if Doom kills Kang only to replace him as the main villain immediately,” setting the stage for Secret Wars.
