10 Major Fights To Expect In The Wheel of Time Season 3

Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time has already included several key fights from the book series, and season 3 should depict 10 more major conflicts. The Wheel of Time adapts Robert Jordan’s high fantasy novel series of the same name, which contains 14 lengthy volumes. Adapting such a large book series necessitates some major cuts and changes, but The Wheel of Time has done its best to depict as many of the books’ most critical scenes as possible, including the major fights.

The Wheel of Time season 3’s cast should see a few new additions, which could help the show set up some of the biggest fights in the book series. This season is expected to adapt the fourth of Jordan’s Wheel of Time novels, The Shadow Rising, but since some of the most important events in the previous book, The Dragon Reborn, were not included in The Wheel of Time season 2, it’s possible some aspects of that novel will also be included. 10 Nynaeve Fights Moghedien In Tanchico

Based on The Shadow Rising‘s plot, these two powerful characters are expected to travel to the city of Tanchico, where Nynaeve will duel Moghedien, a powerful member of the Forsaken. The Wheel of Time season 2 set this fight up by introducing Moghedien in its final episode, showcasing her strength in the One Power by having her tie Lanfear in a complex web of weaves. Moghedien and Nynaeve’s duel is a massive moment, and it should be one of The Wheel of Time season 3’s most riveting scenes.

9 Perrin And Loial Defend The Two Rivers From A Trolloc Invasion

After Perrin finally gets his book weapon in The Wheel of Time season 2, he is properly set up to travel back to the Two Rivers and defend it from a trolloc invasion, as he does in The Shadow Rising. According to the book, a contingent of White Cloaks will be there as well, harassing Emond’s Field. This conflict is also set up in The Wheel of Time season 2 by having Perrin kill Geofram Bornhald. Loial should be with Perrin as he travels back to the Two Rivers as well, and he’s likely to prove instrumental in their efforts to throw back the trolloc invaders.

8 The Aiel Storm The Stone Of Tear

The Stone of Tear is one of the major book locations that needs to appear in The Wheel of Time season 3, and a great way to include it would be to show the Aiel storming this great citadel as they do in The Dragon Reborn. This is an important moment in the books because it begins Rand’s control of the Aiel, fulfills a major part of the Prophecies of the Dragon, and helps Rand retrieve the books’ most important sa’angreal, Callandor. The Wheel of Time season 2 began introducing a few key members of the Aiel, so this could easily happen in season 3.

7 Mat Duels Gawyn And Galad With His Quarterstaff

One of the best moments in The Dragon Reborn that isn’t included in The Wheel of Time season 2 is Mat’s duel with Galad and Gawyn at the White Tower. Shortly after being Healed of his connection to the tainted dagger from Shadar Logoth, Mat goes down to the warders’ training ground at the White Tower and challenges Elayne’s brother and half brother, Gawyn and Galad respectively, to a two-on-one duel. Mat uses his quarterstaff against their swords and beats them easily in one of his best book moments.

The Wheel of Time season 2 sets up Gawyn’s introduction in a conversation between Verin and Sheriam, and sees Mat obtain a quarterstaff with the ruby dagger tied to the end, making this fight a real possibility in season 3. However, if Mat is going to follow his arc in The Shadow Rising, he will have to travel to the Aiel Waste with Rand, making this duel less likely to occur. Still, this is one of Mat’s most impressive bouts, so it wouldn’t be surprising if The Wheel of Time season 3 finds a way to get Mat back to the White Tower to participate in his iconic duel.

6 Rand Fights Asmodean In Rhuidean

The Wheel of Time seems to be cutting several of the Forsaken from its story, but if Asmodean makes the cut, then Rand should have a spectacular duel with him in the sacred Aiel city of Rhuidean. Even if Asmodean is cut, it’s possible Rand will duel a different Forsaken in his place, because this is one of the most important fights in The Shadow Rising. The winner gains possession of the access keys to the Choedan Kal, the two most powerful sa’angreal ever built. The Wheel of Time season 2 sets up Rand’s journey to the Waste, so this fight is likely to occur soon, whoever the participants are.

5 Trollocs Invade The Stone Of Tear

After Rand and the Aiel take control of the Stone of Tear, the Forsaken, Sammael, sends a contingent of trollocs to invade the fortress. A massive fight takes place as everyone present does their best to hold the trollocs off, and eventually, Rand uses Callandor to create a huge storm of lightning that kills the trollocs. This is an important scene because it shows how powerful Rand is when using Callandor. Since Lan mentions Sammael in The Wheel of Time season 2, setting his character up for the near future, this fight could easily occur in season 3.

4 Shadowspawn Attack Cold Rocks Hold

When Rand travels to the Aiel Waste in The Shadow Rising, one of the places he visits is a settlement of the Taardad Aiel called Cold Rocks Hold. While there, a force of trollocs and draghkar attack the settlement, forcing Rand and the rest of the Aiel to kill them off in the middle of the night. With Rand’s journey to the Aiel Waste being set up in The Wheel of Time season 2, it’s possible this fight will occur in season 3. It’s also possible, however, that this scene could be cut due to time restraints.

3 Perrin Fights Slayer In Tel’aran’rhiod

Another fight likely to occur in The Wheel of Time season 3 is Perrin’s conflict with Slayer in the Wolf Dream, or Tel’aran’rhiod. Slayer is a mysterious character in The Wheel of Time known for killing wolves in the Wolf Dream, thereby cutting them off from the cycle of reincarnation. The Wheel of Time season 2 began setting up Perrin’s wolfbrother abilities in more detail, and he is expected to travel to the Two Rivers where he is when this fight occurs, so it’s likely he and Slayer’s duel will be included.

2 Warders Fight Warders In The White Tower Coup

After Siuan Sanche’s position was brought into question by her injury from Lanfear, it feels like her impending deposition from the Amyrlin Seat is likely to occur in The Wheel of Time season 3. If that is the case, then the infamous White Tower coup will cause a split between Aes Sedai, which leads to a battle between opposing warders on the White Tower grounds. Gawyn Trakand is a notable participant in this fight, and he even kills his former instructor, Hammar, for trying to free Siuan. With both Gawyn’s character and Siuan’s deposition set up in The Wheel of Time season 2, this fight looks likely.

Another fight that occurs during the taking of the Stone of Tear is Egwene, Nynaeve, and Elayne’s duel with several members of the Black Ajah. Though they are initially captured and imprisoned by Liandrin and her cronies, Mat breaks them free, allowing them to get some payback against a few Black Ajah members. After The Wheel of Time season 2 set up Liandrin as a member of the Black Ajah, it’s easily possible for this fight to happen in The Wheel of Time season 3.
