10 Hidden Details Redditors Found In Pixar Movies

10 Hidden Details Redditors Found In Pixar Movies

Pixar’s newest offering, Lightyear, may have sputtered at the box office in its opening weekend, but it still remains a nostalgic, emotional, and frolicking ride like most Pixar movies. There are many factors that make a movie from the animation studio great, but hunting for hidden details and easter eggs is a fan favorite activity when it comes to Pixar movies.

Right from the beginning, the studio has made sure to include these subtleties in various scenes and opening credits so that viewers can scour frames and have that ‘aha!’ moment that they crave. Redditors have countless threads about the many, many details found in each feature, and some of them are truly meticulously planned and executed.

The Pizza Planet Truck In Almost Every Movie

10 Hidden Details Redditors Found In Pixar Movies

The ubiquitous Pizza Planet truck from Toy Story is definitely included in almost every single Pixar movie. 2chainzrules24 from Reddit listed these appearances, right from WALL-E where EVE is in the hood of an old version of the truck, to Up where it is seen thrice (through the little girl’s window, in a parking lot in Carl’s dream, and while Carl and Russel eat ice cream.)

Even Brave featured a wooden carving of the truck in the witch’s hut, along with all other movies except for The Incredibles. According to the Redditor, it is “said to be found at least once in every feature film.”

Incredibles Was Teased In Finding Nemo Before Release

A boy reads an Incredibles comic in Finding Nemo

Finding Nemo released in 2003, and fans got to watch Incredibles a year later. Besides references to other movies in the Pixar universe, the studio is also known to foreshadow future releases in some films. In this case, the comic that the boy reads while waiting at the dentist office is a Mr. Incredible (one of Pixar’s most relatable characters) book in Japanese.

SignalFire_Plae observes “You can see that it’s actually an earlier design of Mr. Incredible too. His mask has straps on instead of gluing to his head like in the final movie.”

Brave’s Title Card Has Merida And Her Mother In The Text

Redditor Numerous_Lemon spotted this fantastic little detail, saying “You can see Merida and her mother hidden in the logo of the movie.” If fans zoom into the title card of 2012 Scottish-inspired animation Brave, the top part of the B has a beautiful carving of Merida, and the E features her mother’s likeness.

Some users even reckon that the little circle under Merida’s mother are her three bear cubs, which is a lovely little detail to add to the title. The attention to detail here is a delight.

Gill’s Species Alluded To His Attempts To Escape

Gill swims in the fish tank in Finding Nemo

Finding Nemo is constantly hailed as one of Pixar’s best movies because of the colorful world it created, as well as the research that went into making it a reality. Each fish was placed in the frame with a backstory, and the rugged and experienced Gill was a Moorish Idol, which is a species that does poorly in captive conditions.

A deleted Reddit user said that his species justified why it was always “him being the one who constantly comes up with escape plans.” It also reflected badly on Darla and her desire to keep and kill fish.

A Magazine In Inside Out Features Collette From Ratatouille

1a magazine featuring Collette in a living room in Inside Out.

Pixar’s emotional Inside Out released in 2015, but it recalled a small but heartwarming detail from 2007’s Ratatouille in a magazine cover. Numerous_Lemon found the exact frame where “you can see Collette from Ratatouille on a magazine cover.”

Although fleeting, the callback is definitely to Collette as the magazine’s title is Haute Dish, which meant it was most likely a French culinary magazine. Fans would be happy to know that the talented and methodical chef finally made it to a magazine cover herself.

Git From Ratatouille Is A Tagged Lab Rat

Besides the Pizza Planet truck, A113, which is an all-important classroom for many of Pixar’s animators, is a perennial Pixar Easter egg in almost every movie. While Ratatouille is filled with details for true foodies, it also gives a nod to A113.

Kyle102997 says “Git, the jacked rat, has a tag on his ear reading A113. Not only is this a frequently used Pixar easter egg, it also implies that Git was a lab rat, explaining his large size.” Clearly, Git had been experimented on a lot which affected his physique more than the scrawnier rats he lived with.

Bao Appears In Turning Red

Fans fell in love with Pixar’s short film Bao, and this adorable character made a short appearance in the hit movie Turning Red. This Easter egg makes sense as, according to goldenboy2191, “Both of these were directed by Domee Shi.”

As the Toronto cityscape comes into the frame, among the many Chinese restaurant and shop signs nestles one which has the Bao title art, disguised as a restaurant for the traditional Chinese steamed buns.

The Pilot’s Uniform In Incredibles 2 Contains The Colors Of All Pixar Movies

Elastigirl stands next to a pilot in Incredibles 2.

The much-awaited Incredibles 2 finally released in 2018, and it had a clever detail in it which only eagle-eyed fans could spot. Maestrolive found that “the colored emblems on the pilot’s uniform are abstract representations of every single Pixar film up to that movie.”

In fact, the badge has the colors and symbols set in chronological order too, borrowed from iconic characters or objects from each movie. The order was Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bug’s Life, Monsters, Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, WALL-E, UP, Toy Story 3, Cars 2, Brave, Monsters University, Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur, Finding Dory, Cars 3, Coco, and then Incredibles 2.

Coco Features Pixar Piñatas

2017’s Coco also calls back to several Pixar characters in a Mexico street scene of vendors, where one seller is retailing piñatas of several past characters, including Buzz Lightyear, Mike Wazowski, Woody, and other obscured ones.

Architacos said “More than an easter egg, that’s a genuine detail. All piñata stores in Mexico will have at least one unlicensed Pixar character hanging there, so very detail-oriented from the artists.”

The Dog Barking At Remy In Ratatouille Is Dug From UP

Pixar Universe Theory Ratatouille Dug Up

In another moment of interesting foreshadowing, Ratatouille referenced Pixar’s funny character Dug two years before UP released. PlamenDrop said “In Ratatouille, the dog barking at Remy is Doug from Up.”

Some fans may wonder what Dug is doing in France, but his owner was somebody who loved flying around and hunting things. It wouldn’t be a stretch if Dug somehow ended up in a French home which was inhabited by Remy.
