The bestselling fantasy series A Court of Thorns and Roses is being adapted as a TV show, which means that Hulu will soon be challenged with recreating the detailed outfits described in the books. Yet cosplayers have been creating their own versions of these costumes for years. A Court of Thorns and Roses is about human huntress Feyre Archeron, who is taken to the Fae country of Prythian after shooting a wolf that turns out to be a faerie.
Because the books are yet to be adapted, there is no official version of the characters’ outfits. Therefore, it is up to cosplayers and fan artists to envision what a particular ensemble looks like, based on the book’s description. Cosplayers dressing up as Feyre, her family, friends, and enemies hunt for similar clothing or create garments from scratch. The A Court of Thorns and Roses TV show can only hope to feature such brilliant costumes.
10 Lucien Vanserra
Tamlin’s second-in-command, formerly of the Autumn Court.
Lucien was raised in the Autumn Court, but has been disowned by his family and lives in the Spring Court, serving the High Lord Tamlin. @woodsmokeandwords still chose some autumnal elements for their Lucien cosplay, such as a golden-orange vest and a dark green shirt. Additionally, before the events of the first book, Lucien lost one of his eyes in a confrontation with Amarantha. @woodsmokeandwords also captures this detail with makeup, and maybe a single contact or some editing. 9 Tamlin
The High Lord of the Spring Court.
Feyre’s initial romance with Tamlin is inspired by Beauty and the Beast. Tamlin is blonde and has green eyes, and he is forced to wear a mask as part of Amarantha’s curse for most of the first book. @macaylacarlene wears a simple but elegant Tamlin cosplay with all these essential elements. She also poses in a field of sunflowers to allude to the Spring Court. While Tamlin is framed as Feyre’s main love interest in the first book, she leaves him in the second book because of his abusive treatment of her.
8 The Weaver
An immortal monster living in the woods of Prythian.
The Weaver is an immortal being who lives in the woods of Prythian and eats anyone who has the misfortune of crossing her. Her cabin and weaving materials are made from the remains of her victims. Yet Rhysand is able to bargain with her in the third book, A Court of Wings and Ruin, and she comes to the main characters’ aid in the final battle. @rennvcosplay wears a perfectly creepy Weaver cosplay, appearing in a part of the Weaver’s cottage. The Weaver would most likely appear in A Court of Thorns and Roses season 2, but first, the show needs to be renewed for a second season.

Like many fantasy book adaptations, the A Court of Thorns and Roses TV series has many obstacles in its journey toward successful development.
7 Huntress Feyre
Feyre supports her family by hunting.
Before she becomes involved in the machinations of the Fae courts, Feyre is a huntress supporting her father and two older sisters. The first chapters of A Court and Thorns and Roses show just a glimpse of Feyre’s human life. Feyre’s mother died when she was young, while her father was a wealthy merchant before losing his fortune to debtors. The responsibility to provide for the family subsequently fell upon Feyre, her older sisters unable or unwilling to do the work instead. Many “Huntress Feyre” cosplays are on Instagram, but @shakespeareandme’s is especially well done.
6 Elaine Archeron
Elaine’s passion is gardening.
Feyre’s older sister Elaine tends a garden at all the places she lives in the series: The shabby cottage when her family is poor, the family mansion after Tamlin has restored their wealth, and the Night Court when she and Nesta eventually move there. Cosplayers enjoy picking out floral dresses and settings for Elaine. @thestarseternal’s Elaine cosplay features a more modern dress than what Elaine is likely supposed to be wearing in the books, but the outfit still effectively captures Elaine’s personality.
5 Ianthe
A malevolent priestess who comes to the Sping Court.
Ianthe is one of Pythian’s twelve High Priestesses and Tamlin’s childhood friend. She comes to the Spring Court after Amarantha is defeated. Feyre initially believes her to be an ally, but discovers from Rhysand that Ianthe is manipulative and violent. Ianthe wears pale blue robes with jewelry and has the phases of the moon inked on her forehead. @corrine_thorn’s Ianthe cosplay includes all of these details, as well as Ianthe’s circle headpiece. Ianthe would also not appear until season 2, since her first appearance is in the second book, A Court of Mist and Fury.
4 Nesta Archeron
Feyre’s eldest sister.
Feyre’s eldest sister Nesta refuses to help Feyre support the family because she is angry at their father for not doing it himself. However, Nesta cares deeply for her sisters, while Feyre also comes to admire Nesta’s independence. Nesta is a complex character who is often abrasive but is also slowly drawn into the Fae world, finding her own adventures and romance there. @deaniewink wears a blue dress and a crown braid hairstyle for her Nesta cosplay. Nesta is described with both of these details in the books.
3 Amren
Rhys’ second-in-command.
Lady Amren of the Night Court is a powerful entity trapped in a Fae body. Her swirling silver eyes still reveal that she is something greater than a normal Fae. She became friends with Rhysand, who made her his second-in-command when he inherited the position of High Lord of the Night Court. Rhysand also occasionally gifts Amren decadent jewelry, of which she is very fond. @peachyqueencosplay’s Amren cosplay includes all the essential elements, including Amren’s silver eyes and a few elaborate pieces of jewelry.

2 Feyre & Rhysand
The Night Court’s power couple.
After Feyre becomes High Lady of the Night Court, she occasionally wears some dramatic glittering black dresses to reflect her status. Rhysand also typically wears black clothing. @jajakuro and @art.b0i collaborated for a Feyre and Rhysand cosplay featuring details such as Rhysand’s wings and Feyre’s tattoos. @jajakuro also wears a star and moon tiara (found on Amazon) that is very popular among Feyre cosplayers because of its resemblance to Feyre’s crown in the book.
1 Starfall Feyre
Feyre’s favorite dress.
For the Night Court’s Starfall celebration, Feyre wears a glittering dress. Starfall is an important moment for Feyre in A Court of Mist and Fury when she reflects on how far she has come since she left the Spring Court. The dress becomes one of her favorites, and she wears it for other important events in the series. @starbitcreations wears a very accurate and detailed rendition of Feyre’s Starfall dress, augmenting the look with some editing to create falling stars in the background. Fans are looking forward to this dress and other significant costumes appearing in Hulu’s adaptation of A Court of Thorns and Roses.
