10 Funniest Suits Scenes Across 9 Seasons, Ranked

While the hit legal drama Suits wasn’t designed to be a comedy, it had several hilarious scenes that continue to be memorable. Following lawyers Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), Harvey Spector (Gabriel Macht), Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), and their coworkers, Suits is best remembered for its gripping storylines and high drama. Suits’ 9-season run came to an end in 2019 after the show started to lose viewership with the departure of Rachel (Meghan Markle), but each installment of the series had its funny moments.

Even when a TV show has serious storylines, that doesn’t mean there’s no room for jokes. Some of Suits’ best episodes had storylines that ranged from fraud and blackmail to cheating and relationship breakdowns, but despite this, it still had some very humorous beats. While there are plenty of these instances, there are key scenes in Suits that are easily the show’s funniest.

Harvey’s Failed Attempt At Flirting

Season 1, Episode 1: Pilot

10 Funniest Suits Scenes Across 9 Seasons, Ranked

Among the drama and high stakes, Suits managed to squeeze a funny moment into its pilot. Suits season 1 spent a lot of time setting up its characters for the future, and this comical moment from Harvey quickly showed audiences what kind of person he was. Having celebratory drinks with Jessica (Gina Torres), Harvey hits on their waitress, but the unimpressed woman quickly knocks back his suave charms. Even Jessica finds this interaction hilarious, using the same line that initially impressed the waitress against him, telling the humbled lawyer, “I guess you’re not the best closer this city’s ever seen.

Rachel And Donna Pretend To Be Mike And Harvey

Season 2, Episode 3: Meet The New Boss

A drunken Rachel and Donna at a bar in the Suits episode Meet the New Boss

One funny scene from Suits season 2 saw the relationship between Rachel and Donna (Sarah Rafferty) blossom even more. Donna takes Rachel out drinking to try and help her get over Mike, but the two women quickly realize the male attention around them and take the opportunity to pull out their own satirical interpretations of Mike and Harvey’s bromance. Mocking the two men’s approach to talking about their careers only lasts for a little while; Rachel and Donna’s lies start getting more ridiculous and away from the truth, all the while knocking back shot after shot.

Mike’s Grandma Puts Everyone In Their Place

Season 2, Episode 9: Asterisk

In the episode “Asterisk,” Mike’s grandmother Edith (Rebecca Schull) meets Rachel and Harvey for the first time. Throughout the show, Edith was a huge part of her grandson Mike’s life, having taken him in as a child after becoming an orphan, and while she sadly passed away in this episode, she managed to get some laughs before doing so. Edith’s referring to Harvey as a “hardass” was hilarious, especially from such a small, elderly woman, but it’s how she quickly takes the embarrassing parental role with Mike that makes this scene even funnier.

Harold Gets Fired

Season 2, Episode 12: Blood In The Water

Louis firing Harold with Mike watching in the Suits episode Blood in the Water

In the season 2 episode “Blood in the Water,” Louis fires inept associate Harold (Max Topplin). Before this happens, however, Harold is quick to show off the new tattoo of a shark on the back of his neck to Mike, but his co-worker refers to it as a “Manatee. The slow, gentle cow of the sea,” one of Suits’ best quotes. Initially, Harold naively believes Louis is firing Mike, to which Louis calls him a “moron.” The hilarious interaction doesn’t end there, though, with Harold making a swift attempt to keep his job by whining and panicking.

Louis’ Drama Over A Cat

Season 3, Episode 9: Bad Faith

Harvey shouting at Louis in his office in the Suits episode Bad Faith

Season 3 of Suits saw many brilliant interactions between Harvey and Louis, most notably in the episode “Bad Faith.” After finishing negotiations with Nigel (Adam Godley), Harvey confronts Louis over his behavior in the boardroom, and the true drama between Louis and Nigel is revealed. As each line of dialogue between the two becomes increasingly heightened, with Louis explaining that Nigel hadn’t read his letters to Mikado the cat, the scene gets funnier. While the concept itself is absolutely hysterical, it’s Mike’s facial expressions that make this scene so comical.

Louis Is Conned By Photoshop

Season 4, Episode 4: Leveraged

Harvey chatting to Louis, lying down in his office, in the episode Leveraged

In season 4, Louis struggles with his breakup with Sheila (Rachael Harris), and to no surprise, Mike is less than supportive. In the episode “Leveraged,” Harvey finds a heartbroken Louis dwelling over photographs of his lost love. In this funny moment, however, Harvey’s rage gets the better of him because of Louis’ lack of awareness. Jealous over Sheila’s new beau, this hysterical scene shows how out of touch Louis can be, not only failing to notice that the images of Sheila’s fiancé are photoshopped, but also because, according to the fake images, the man is soap opera actor Lorenzo Lamas.

4
Harold Finds Out About Mike And Rachel’s Engagement

Season 5, Episode 2: Compensation

One recurring storyline in Suits was Harold’s infatuation with Rachel, which, unfortunately for him, wasn’t reciprocated. In the episode “Compensation,” Mike announces his engagement to Rachel, resulting in Harold’s hilarious reaction. Before even hearing the news, Harold manages to mess up by confessing that he checks Rachel’s Facebook profile several times a day. After finding out, he quickly backtracks in an awkward yet brutally funny comment about Mike’s past with Donna. Harold’s constant convincing himself that he has a future with Rachel is humorous enough anyway, but telling himself he’s fine with her marrying Mike proves he’s a great character.

3
Harvey, Jessica, And Louis Get High

Season 6, Episode 1: To Trouble

Harvey holding up a lighter and joint to Louis in the season 6 episode To Trouble

In the season 6 episode “To Trouble,” one iconic scene sees Harvey, Jessica, and Louis get high after Mike’s arrest in Suits. While it’s hysterical enough to see the Suits characters take a break in such an adolescent way, Harvey’s threat of lighting a joint over Norma’s ashes makes this moment even funnier. Harvey’s attempt to peer pressure Louis into smoking marijuana, while slightly out of character for him, also contributed to this scene. However, the conversation between the three of them as it hits is what makes this one of Suits’ funniest scenes, especially because of Louis’ story about “premature mudification.

2
Louis And Harvey Talk Dirty

Season 8, Episode 5: Good Mudding

Harvey and Louis shaking hands after chatting in the season 8 episode Good Mudding

While only a throwaway comment, one of Suits season 8’s funniest moments came in an interaction between Louis and Harvey talking about vegetables. In the episode “Good Mudding,” Louis opens up to Harvey about his personal issues conceiving, and while the conversation starts off appropriately, the topic quickly veers into sexual fantasies. Despite Harvey’s sarcastic response, Louis believes his claim that he “thinks about… tomatoes.” Louis’ naivety in this scene, while wholesome because of his current troubles, is simply hilarious, and his inability to pick up on Harvey’s lie makes the scene even better.

1
Louis’ Dream Court

Season 9, Episode 3: Windmills

While Suits season 9 wrapped up its unfinished story arcs, there were some funny moments, most notably in the episode “Windmills.” During one truly absurd scene, Louis dreams about putting Faye (Denise Crosby) on trial. His first line of dialogue in this scene is hilarious, referring to Faye as “a villainous pirate by the name of Faye Pooperson,” but it’s the realization that he’s both lawyer and judge in this dream that makes it funnier. Plus, with the reveal of twelve Harveys as Louis’ jury and Faye’s death sentence, it’s no surprise that Louis Litt is Suits‘ unintentionally funniest character.
