10 Films To Watch If You Already Miss The Cast Of Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan Kenobi is the latest Star Wars series to take its bow on Disney+, having aired its explosive sixth and final episode that finally, after years of waiting, pits the eponymous Jedi Master against his fallen former Padawan turned Sith Lord, Darth Vader.

Now that Obi-Wan Kenobi has wrapped up, fans are left with a massive hole in its wake. However, they need not despair, for the incredibly talented cast have all appeared in their own projects throughout the years that can satiate audiences missing the latest Star Wars adventure.

Rya Kihlstedt – Home Alone 3 (1997)

10 Films To Watch If You Already Miss The Cast Of Obi-Wan Kenobi

Rya Kihlstedt portrays the rarely seen but imposing presence of the Fourth Sister, a member of the Inquisitorious who is sent to track down Obi-Wan Kenobi after he reemerges ten years after the Jedi Purge. Despite playing a small role in the series, the potential for Kihlstedt’s character is limitless, as it seems as though Disney has bigger plans for the Inquisitors in the franchise’s future.

Kihlstedt is best known for her role in Home Alone 3, the critically panned sequel to the classic holiday movie franchise starring Macauley Culkin. In the film, she plays Alice Ribbons, a member of a group of international thieves who break into a child’s house in order to retrieve an all-important computer chip. In true Home Alone fashion, the break-in does not go in favor of the robbers.

Vivien Lyra-Blair – Bird Box (2018)

The characters in Bird Box walk with blindfolds on.

In a shocking twist in Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s pilot episode, Vivien Lyra-Blair was revealed as the ten-year-old Princess Leia, who is kidnapped by marauders on behalf of the Third Sister, forcing Obi-Wan Kenobi out of hiding. Blair brings a new dimension to the classic character, adding weight to Leia’s iconic message to the nomadic Jedi Master in A New Hope.

Despite her young age, Vivien Lyra-Blair is no stranger to major projects. The actress made her film debut in Netflix’s hit post-apocalyptic horror film Bird Box, starring Sandra Bullock. Blair portrayed the character known as Girl, whom Bullock’s character attempts to keep alive despite the treacherous landscape surrounding them. It is yet unknown if she will return in the announced sequel or any of the spinoffs set within the same universe.

Sung Kang – F9 (2021)

Han returns in F9

Sung Kang brings the Fifth Brother of the Inquisitorious to live-action for the very first time. Physically intimidating and handy with a lightsaber, the Fifth Brother lobbies for the Grand Inquisitor’s position after his apparent death, butting heads with the equally temperamental Third Sister. While the Fifth Brother is absent from the show’s season finale, fans suspect there may be more to see of him before his eventual death at the hands of Darth Maul in Star Wars: Rebels.

Sung Kang is best known for his recurring role as Han in the Fast and Furious franchise. After scattered appearances throughout the series, Han was killed off in Fast and Furious 6, only to return in the most recent installment, F9: The Fast Saga. This film is a must-watch for any fan of Kang, not only to see his triumphant return to the franchise that gave him his big break but also as the best indication of what the future holds for Han Lue.

O’Shea Jackson Jr. plays a brand-new character in the Star Wars universe in Roken, a smuggler who helps rogue Jedi and other fugitives escape from the grip of the Empire. He teams up with Tala Durith after the death of his Force-sensitive wife to make sure that the Imperials never again take from others what they once took from him, becoming a true leader in the course of his adventures.

Many viewers will remember Jackson for his breakout performance in the biographical drama Straight Outta Compton, where he portrayed a younger version of his father, known by the stage name Ice Cube, as he joined the iconic rap group N.W.A. Jackson received critical acclaim for his portrayal of his father, kickstarting his acting career.

Indira Varma – Bride & Prejudice (2004)

Tala Durith is the best new character introduced in Obi-Wan Kenobi, portrayed by Indira Varma. Tala is an Imperial officer who, upon realizing the evil and corruption behind the Empire, uses her position to help fugitives and surviving Jedi escape to safety. In “Chapter V,” Tala sacrifices herself to help Obi-Wan escape from the onslaught of Stormtroopers approaching to capture him.

Indira Varma previously starred in the 2004 romantic comedy Bride & Prejudice: The Bollywood Musical, a loose adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice using themes traditional to Bollywood filmmaking. Varma portrayed the character of Kiran, the parallel to Caroline Bingley in the original book.

Kumail Nanjiani – The Big Sick (2017)

Just months after joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Eternals, Kumail Nanjiani also makes his Star Wars debut as Haja Estree, a Jedi impersonator and con man with a heart of gold. Despite limited screentime, Nanjiani makes his character shine, proving that, despite his unsavory business tactics, Haja is a true hero when all is said and done.

Nanjiani is certainly no stranger to general audiences, given his recent surge in popularity. The comedian’s big break began in large part with his leading role in the romantic comedy The Big Sick in 2017. The film received widespread critical acclaim and quickly became a box office success, leading to Kumail Nanjiani’s expansive Hollywood career.

Rupert Friend – Pride & Prejudice (2005)

The Grand Inquisitor, previously depicted in Star Wars: Rebels, is the head of the Inquisitorious and the Inquisitor that is most skilled with a lightsaber. Played in Obi-Wan Kenobi by Rupert Friend, the character disappears from the series after his supposed death in the second episode, only to return alive and well in the final two episodes.

Rupert Friend will be familiar to many viewers thanks to his role in the 2005 adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride & Prejudice. In this rendition of the beloved story, Friend portrays Lieutenant George Wickham, the deceitful eventual husband of Lydia Bennett and rival to Mr. Darcy.

Moses Ingram – The Tragedy Of Macbeth (2021)

Moses Ingram makes an explosive debut in the Star Wars universe with her character Reva, otherwise known as the Third Sister of the Inquisitorious. Reva is a personality reminiscent of Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren in the sequel trilogy, whose rage and hatred drive her to make bold and often dangerous decisions in the pursuit of revenge.

Ingram can be seen in the critically acclaimed 2021 film adaptation of one of William Shakespeare’s most famous plays, The Tragedy of Macbeth. The film, starring Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand in the roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth respectively, features Ingram as Lady Macduff, the ill-fated wife of the true hero in this story of deception and betrayal.

Hayden Christensen makes his triumphant return to the Star Wars franchise as the fallen Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, who is now the iconic Sith Lord Darth Vader. Throughout the course of the series, Vader attempts to find and kill his former master, eventually engaging the Jedi in the rematch of the century.

Fans of Christensen may enjoy one of his earlier works in the 2008 action/sci-fi film Jumper. The film, though unappreciated in its time, is actually one of Hayden Christensen’s best non-Star Wars films, creating a world in which some people have the ability to teleport themselves anywhere in the world on a whim. The film creates an intriguing new world that fans may find far more interesting than critics did in 2008.

Ewan McGregor – Doctor Sleep (2019)

Ewan McGregor as Danny Torrance in Doctor Sleep

Much to the delight of Star Wars fans everywhere, Ewan McGregor returns to his beloved character of Obi-Wan Kenobi in a six-episode arc that adds new dimensions to the Jedi Master that the fanbase loves so dearly. Ten years after leaving his best friend to die on the hot sands of Mustafar, Obi-Wan must once again face Anakin Skywalker in order to protect innocent lives, all the while learning to let go of his own failures and accept himself once more.

In 2019, Ewan McGregor starred in Doctor Sleep, the long-awaited sequel to the iconic horror film The Shining, based on the Stephen King book of the same name. McGregor shines as the adult Danny Torrance, who must return to the Overlook Hotel decades later in order to protect one little girl from a gang of supernatural beings intent on feeding off of her energy. Joined by Rebecca Ferguson, Cliff Curtis, and Kyleigh Curran, McGregor pulls off the rare sequel that builds on the original in a meaningful and fan-pleasing way.
