10 Coolest Video Game Details We Hope To See In Fallout Season 2

10 Coolest Video Game Details We Hope To See In Fallout Season 2

When Fallout premiered on Amazon Prime Video, it included many great details from the video game, and season 2 of the hit TV show must increase this aspect of the series in the upcoming story. Like all great adaptations, Fallout paid tribute to its source material while creating something unique for fans familiar and unfamiliar with the games to enjoy. There are six Fallout games currently available to play. However, the series hasn’t followed any of the games’ timelines or storylines exactly, choosing to strike out on its own.

The best video game Easter eggs and hidden details in Fallout are part of what makes the show so great. What made the Fallout video games so popular was how fully they immersed the player in the world with exciting bits of lore, engaging battles and tasks, and intriguing characters. Lucy (Ella Purnell), plays the protagonist in Fallout, as is one of the vault dwellers, who play key roles in the games. However, there are many competing groups and places where people can come from, providing ample opportunity for multiple perspectives.

Radscorpion

Another in the long list of mutated animals roaming Earth

Though Fallout makes big changes to the video game, it stays true to the elements that make the series so enduring. Part of this is the overarching world and atmosphere of the games. The mutated creatures and animals who’ve adapted to radiation are vital to the environmental threats posed by the world. Everywhere the characters turn in Fallout is ravaged by radiation, and most often, the greatest adversaries are other humans. However, this doesn’t make the mutated animals any less terrifying.

So far, several have been introduced including evolved giant cockroaches AKA Radroaches, and the Gulper who swallows the head Lucy’s carrying early in season 1. However, as Lucy and the Ghoul (Walton Goggins) continue through the desert pursuing her father, Hank (Kyle MacLachlan), they are sure to encounter even more beasts. Since they’ll be walking through the desert seeing the Radscoprions would make complete sense and be a great obstacle for them to overcome together.

New Vegas Characters

Residents of the city and specific characters like the Burned Man

The final moments of Fallout season 1 saw Hank making his way to New Vegas, the setting of the fourth game. Since most of season 1 revolved around the destruction of Shady Sands and the current city of Filly, moving to a new location will provide threats and opportunities alike for the characters. Though the show won’t follow the events of Fallout: New Vegas exactly, they’ll introduce new characters that will give further backstory about Vault-Tec and the aftermath of the bombs dropping.

The Burned Man is one of the major characters players interact with in New Vegas, and he could be an ally or an enemy based on his backstory. Knowing Fallout, he’ll likely be a little bit of both and could be a key source of information for Lucy and the Ghoul. So far, the audience has only been exposed to a few backstories, like the Ghoul’s, as Lucy and Max (Aaron Clifton Moten) are too young to remember much. However, the Burned Man could be the window into the past the show needs in season 2.

10 Most Exciting Things To Expect From Fallout Season 2

Fallout season 1 set up so many compelling plot points and story opportunities for season 2, and the ten biggest opportunities make it so exciting.

8

Caesar’s Legion

As well as the many other factions roaming the land

The Brotherhood of Steal, Vault-Tec, the vault dwellers, the New California Republic, and many other factions have already been touched upon in Fallout season 1. However, since humanity is so scattered and fragmented after the nuclear devastation, there are many more for season 2 to mine for storylines. If the Burned Man is featured in Fallout season 2, this would directly lead to the introduction of Caesar’s Legion, as the Burned Man was part of this group at one time in his life. It’s also one of the most evil factions in the series.

Additional groups that could make an appearance are The Railroad, The Followers of the Apocolypse, and the Minutemen. Each of them has their own loyalties and ideas about how to rebuild the world which is the essential conflict of Fallout. As Lucy grows more comfortable above ground and learns more about what’s left of civilization, she will realize that war and differing ideologies are what led to the end of the world in the first place.

7

New Vaults

With unique experiments and horrible consequences

Lucy is an effective protagonist because she’s learning just as much about the world of the story as the audience is, allowing her to ask the questions the viewer is wondering about. As a vault dweller, Lucy got extremely lucky with what type of vault she lives in, as though the experiment is inhumane, it’s less directly violent than the others. She realizes that every vault has an experiment and that the world is not one of the black-and-white morality she assumed. This upends her worldview and causes intense character growth.

Her vault and the vault she and Max find later in the season are the only ones the viewer has been exposed to thus far. While the flashback meeting with Vault-Tec illustrated what sorts of testing the executives wanted to do on vault residents, there are many more vaults across the country full of people suffering and living in ignorance. It’s likely that Lucy will take it upon herself to find the wildest vaults in Fallout season 2, and try to liberate the people living in them.

6

Laser Rifles

One of the most prominent weapons in Fallout: New Vegas

At the end of the world weapons make all the difference, and whoever has the best one has the power. This is shown through the might and force of The Brotherhood of Steel and their power armor that allows them to plow through their enemies. Although the Ghoul finds their weakness, this is an exception to the usual unstoppable nature of such technology. Conversely, Lucy’s tranquilizer gun is an obvious metaphor for Lucy at the start of the series. Ineffectual and naive in the face of greater power and violence.

Discovering the truth about her father and her entire life changed Lucy forever, and this coupled with her experience in the wasteland has transformed her. By partnering with the Ghoul, Lucy is telling the audience and herself that she’s now capable of doing what’s necessary and handling lethal weapons. The laser rifle can cause more damage than a regular gun and is incredibly durable. Finding one of these would be useful in her quest to find her father and stop Vault-Tec.

5

Super Mutants

Though they were briefly hinted at in season 1, they need to be centered in season 2

As if Ghouls weren’t enough, Super Mutants aren’t made accidentally by prolonged exposure to radiation but are created to be the perfect weapon. Humans are injected with Forced Evolutionary Viruses and then develop otherworldly strength, endurance, and other physical and mental capabilities far beyond what humanity is typically capable of. They’re also immune to radiation, giving them an edge when it comes to inheriting the Earth and becoming the dominant group. However, they don’t always exist as villains, and play many different roles in the games.

Unfortunately, they’re often major antagonists within the games’ stories and will likely be framed this way in Fallout season 2. Due to their extreme advantages and terrifying appearance, it’s easy to become immediately overwhelmed by the Super Mutants. Additionally, since they were teased in the Enclave lab Dr. Siggi Wilzif (Michael Emerson) was working in, they’re likely being created to support Vault-Tec and other nefarious companies. The Ghoul and Lucy will definitely come into further contact with the Enclave.

4

Lock Picking

The lockpick skill is something Lucy should pick up in season 2

In some video games, lock-picking isn’t a vital skill because stealth, exploration, and the open-world format aren’t centered in the gameplay. In Fallout, learning to adapt to the world and travel through it unseen is half the fun of playing. While Lucy and the other characters rarely get to travel in peace, they do come across many situations involving locked doors and entrances they’re interested in bypassing. The gadgets and individual skills interspersed with the action and fight sequences are a much-needed reprieve that still provides high stakes.

The best ways Fallout season 1 brings the game to life by including not just the big setpieces and memorable music cues, but because of the quiet moments that only game fans appreciate. However, Fallout has found a universal audience because seeing a character pick a lock is always impressive and draws comparisons to espionage thrillers no matter the genre or time. Other skills and powerups should be brought in for season 2, and be used to further the character development.

3

V.A.T.S – Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System

Creating long-range gun fights and better action

Some of the genres that both the show and game draw from are the post-apocalyptic and the Western. One of the hallmarks of Western movies is the shoot-out between the hero and the villain at the end of the story. While heroes and villains aren’t so clear-cut in Fallout, that doesn’t mean season 2 shouldn’t raise the stakes for its gun fights. It’s possible that the citizens of New Vegas could have access to V.A.T.S. because of their proximity to Vault-Tec, putting Lucy and the Ghoul at a disadvantage.

Conversely, if they get their hands on this technology it would change the way battles are fought in the show and be a fun visual stimulus to recreate onscreen. When using V.A.T.S., time is paused and the user can focus on their target with exact precision. For the Ghoul, this might not be the biggest draw, as he has perfect aim, but for Lucy and other characters, it would be a game-changing tool.

2

Mr. House

The ruler of New Vegas and terrible villain

Mr. House (Rafi Silver) is seen briefly in Fallout season 1 when Barb (Frances Turner) and Bud (Michael Esper) hold a meeting with the leaders of the biggest conglomerates in the United States. It’s there where they propose the vault experiment system and reveal that Vault-Tec was the one who dropped the bombs. Everyone in that room is one of the most morally bankrupt characters in the series, and the audience certainly hasn’t seen the last of Mr. House.

In the games, he’s the leader of New Vegas and has stayed alive for many years through technological intervention. In the games he’s a robot/cyborg blend, having connected his brain and consciousness to a computer. This has allowed him to maintain control of Vegas and plot behind the scenes for hundreds of years. If he knows where Barb and the Ghoul’s daughter are, and has access to Vault-Tec’s plans and information, he will be the biggest threat and source of information for Lucy and the Ghoul.

8 Most Controversial Changes The Fallout Show Makes To The Games’ Lore

The Fallout series was an incredibly faithful re-creation of the games’ universe, but made some significant, world-altering changes to the franchise.

1

Deathclaw

The most dangerous beast in all of Fallout

Enormous, lethal, and unforgiving, there are few beasts as difficult to stop as the Deathclaw in any of the games. In Fallout season 2, it would be unimaginable for the creators to wait another season before including Deathclaws in the arsenal of horrors the Earth now has claim to. Like most things in the game’s universe, Deathclaws were created by a larger entity to serve a violent purpose. In this instance, the government made them for the purpose of replacing people in wartime scenarios, so they could kill and be massacred without a moment’s hesitation.

Of course, after the bombs were dropped the Deathclaws escaped and posed horrible threats to anyone who encountered them. Continuing to evolve, and be experimented on by factions like the Enclave, Deathclaws haven’t been prevented from exploding in terms of their population. Seeing Lucy, Max, and the Ghoul go head-to-head with a Deathclaw would doubtlessly be heart-pounding, but it would also be incredible to watch. How the creators attempt to visually capture the look of the Deathclaws will be intriguing.
