10 Coolest Superhero Suits In The Spider-Verse Movie Franchise, Ranked

10 Coolest Superhero Suits In The Spider-Verse Movie Franchise, Ranked

Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, are almost unrivaled in their visual fidelity, and the wonderful artistry that goes into the movie’s designs extends to the vibrant and varied superhero suits worn by the various Spider-People. When an animated Spider-Man movie starring Miles Morales was announced, it was easy to blow off yet another Spider-Man project in the midst of so many reboots and sequels. However, once the first clips were released, it became clear that this Marvel movie from Sony Pictures Animation was something special.

Fortunately, both movies lived up to the promise of their incredible visuals with affecting narratives and memorable characters. Multiverse stories may be in vogue right now, but the deep roster of Spider-Man variants in the Spider-Verse movies warrants vibrant costumes to emphasize each person’s unique personality and past. While eache is great in its own way, a few stand above the rest as the best Spider-Man-inspired superhero suits in Sony’s animated Spider-Man franchise.

10 Music Producer Metro Boomin Gets A Unique & Original Spider-Suit

Metro Boomin Handled The Music For Across The Spider-Verse

10 Coolest Superhero Suits In The Spider-Verse Movie Franchise, Ranked

The Spider-Verse movies are rightfully praised for bringing to life deep-cut Spider-Man Easter eggs and variants, but one of the coolest suits in the franchise is a completely original creation. As Miles tries to run from hundreds of Spider-People and escape the Spider-Society, he comes across a bold hero wearing a black and white costume with a black coat and bandanna. This hero, who has one quick line, is actually a cameo by Metro Boomin. The talented producer led the music for the Spider-Verse sequel and is now visually immortalized in Spider-Man canon – even if only briefly.

9 Peter B. Parker With Mayday Parker Is The Happy Story Spider-Man Needs

Fatherhood Looks Good On Pete

Peter Parker is known for his terrible “Parker Luck,” and unfortunately, in the pages of Marvel Comics, that means happiness is almost always fleeting for the web-slinger. Films have also focused on a younger Spider-Man, making Peter B. Parker’s debut with his super-powered daughter, Mayday, in Across the Spider-Verse all the sweeter. While Peter still clearly has skills, the dichotomy of his experience and toughness with a fluffy pink robe is perfect. It may lose some of its novelty later in the movie, but his re-introduction scene in the Spider-Society headquarters is one to remember.

8 Miles Across The Spider-Verse Suit Is A Sleeker Version Of His First Look

Cleaner Is Cool, But Is It Better?

While Miles spends most of Into the Spider-Verse learning how to be a hero, Across the Spider-Verse sees him comfortable in the role. To match his status as a solidified hero, Miles also sports a new suit that’s cleaner and more sleek than the one at the end of Into the Spider-Verse. The red palms and stripe offer a welcome contrast to the black fabric covering the rest of Miles’ body, but there’s a bit of personality lost in the transition away from Miles’s previous, more homemade look. It’s still very eye-catching, but it seems like an ever-so-slight downgrade from what came before.

7 Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) Eschew’s Most Spider-Suit Cliches

She Hardly Protects Her Identity

Jessica Drew's Spider-Woman in Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse

Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman, is one of the first alternate-dimension heroes seen in Across the Spider-Verse, and her bold suit reflects her bold personality. The whole suit looks much more like casual wear than the outfits worn by most Spider-People, with her pants, jacket, and boots all looking like something she might wear out on the worn. The only thing holding the design back is that there’s no way it conceals her identity at all, though that might not be a problem as she primarily operates out of Miguel’s Spider Society headquarters.

6 Peni Parker Mixes A Bold Design With Unqieu Animation

More Of A Friend Than A Suit

Peni Parker and her robot in into the Spider-Verse

Peni Parker stands out from her Into the Spider-Verse team the most by trading a traditional spider suit for a large red and blue mech. She can still go inside it, so it’s still technically a suit, but it’s largely operated by an intelligent spider instead of Peni. The suit gets major credit for the sheet boldness of the design, and the fact that Peni is animated in the style of anime contrasts her with her peers. It may be a bit too different for some, but Peni will return with a new redesign when Beyond the Spider-Verse eventually hits theaters.

5 Spider-Man 2099 Is Perfectly Intimidating

Miguel Got A Redesign Between Into The Spider-Verse And Its Sequel

Miguel O’Hara isn’t really a villain as he’s trying to keep the Spider-Verse stable and prevent massive dimensional collapse, but, as the narrative antagonist of Across the Spider-Verse, he still looks incredibly intimidating. The design team tweaked Spider-Man 2099’s look between his cameo at the end of Into the Spider-Verse, adding muscle mass and giving the suit sharper edges. The result is a suit that tells a story, adding menace to a character who isn’t necessarily doing anything bad.

4 Spider-Man India Is A Perfect Redesign

The Movie Design Out Does Marvel Comics

There are several international versions of Spider-Man in Marvel Comics, but Spider-Man India gets a huge glow-up in the transition from page to screen. Traditionally, Pavitr Prabhakar looks like Spider-Man with some white pants and a sash. Across the Spider-Verse gives the hero a ground-up redesign that gives Pavitr a truly unique look. The core elements of Spider-Man are all there, but Spider-Man India’s unique silhouette and accessories make him easily stand out from his many on-screen peers.

3 Gwen Stacy’s Spider-Woman Suit Is Recreated Faithfully

If It Isn’t Broke, Don’t Fix It

In both Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse, Gwen Stacy’s Spider-Woman suit is quite faithful to the character’s look in Marvel Comics. While bold redesigns can be a great thing, there’s also beauty in knowing when to keep what already works. Gwen’s black, pink, white, and teal suit stands out from every other Spider-Person, and her hood adds a subtle difference that gives her a unique silhouette. There’s a reason it doesn’t really change between movies, and the fantastic look will likely stay the same for the rest of the trilogy.

2 Spider-Punk Is An Impressive Feat In Animation

Even Hobie’s Animation Doesn’t Follow The Rules

Custom image of Spider-Punk in Across the Spider-Verse.

Hobie Brown is an anarchist punk-rocker through and through, and the Across the Spider-Verse design team did a fantastic job taking a pre-established comics suit and making it shine in motion. Hobie looks like a moving collage of newspaper and magazine clippings, constantly shifting and rough around the edges. More impressively, the way he’s animated even refuses to follow the rules. He’s rendered with different frames per second than his peers, making him constantly look just a little bit “off.” It’s a wonderful example of harnessing the medium of film to complement characterization, and it succeeds beautifully.

1 Miles Hood And Spray Paint Suit Is An Instant Classic

There’s Nothing Wrong With The Home-Made Look

Miles Morales spends most of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse trying to find his unique voice and place as a hero, and it’s not until the film’s final act that he really comes into his own. His change in confidence and growth as a person is mirrored beautifully in his first real spider suit. The classic Spider-Man suit covered in black spray paint perfectly mixes his unique being with what it means to be Spider-Man, and the temporary hoodie he wears over it gives Miles a wildly interesting silhouette that looks great on screen. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse cleans the suit up, but it doesn’t beat the original.
