There are several spacesuits and armor sets in Starfield that, despite not looking too good, are very relevant in terms of stats. On the other hand, there are also great sets that do not perform too well on the field, but offer a unique aesthetic advantage – and these can often be prioritized over the better ones, as looking good in games is a valid desire. As a large open-world RPG, much like Skyrim and Fallout 4, there is a plethora of great spacesuits in Starfield to choose from. These include both early-game sets that do not offer many stat advantages to the late-game ones that tend to be better.
Nevertheless, it is possible to look good in the game from the beginning, as there are several spacesuits and armor sets available early on that look incredible. One great example of this is the red-hued Pirate Spacesuit category, which can be some of the first pieces of armor that players pick up in case they follow the best order of missions in Starfield. There are, however, dozens of spacesuits to choose from in Bethesda’s space RPG, so knowing which ones look best in advance is great, and hunting them down becomes a much easier endeavor.
10 Mantis Spacesuit
The Mantis spacesuit in Starfield is one of the most popular ones and for a reason. This special armor set is only acquirable by completing a special mission on the Denebola 1-B moon that requires the solution of a dangerous puzzle. It is quite an effort to obtain it, but certainly worth it. The Mantis spacesuit looks different from most other armor sets in the game.
It boasts a futuristic and elegant design that lacks the usual padding, circuitry, and bloated feeling that other armor sets usually have. The Mantis is a slim piece of clothing that makes the player’s custom character in Starfield look like a highly advanced and elegant scientist of sorts and not too much of an interstellar mercenary.
9 Mark I Spacesuit
One of the best armor sets in the early game portion is the Mark I spacesuit in Starfield. Although it does provide substantial bonuses to the player’s character when equipped, it can also be used due to its aesthetic value. This is the best example of a classic run-of-the-mill spacesuit.
If the intention is to look like some of the first space explorers, this is the best suit for the job. The Mark I spacesuit boasts a clear and round headgear, with a body piece that fits the body’s player perfectly. Its pack is also quite discrete, yet notable, making it an elegant design for an armor set in Starfield.
8 Ecliptic Spacesuit
Another great early-game armor set for aesthetic purposes is the Ecliptic spacesuit. The pieces to this armor can be acquired from various spacers found occupying space stations across the galaxy. They boast a dark color palette that can be quite appealing. Another great aspect of its design in Starfield is the recurrent presence of metal plating.
This makes the Ecliptic spacesuit feel more like actual armor tailored for combat rather than a simple piece of clothing for interstellar survival. The suit itself is not too elaborate, but it looks intimidating, especially when combined with the Ecliptic Space helmet piece in Starfield, which is a part of the same armor set.
7 Va’ruun Spacesuit
The Va’ruun spacesuit is one of the more elegantly designed pieces of armor. This spacesuit can be first seen when joining the United Colonies in Starfield when going through the Orientation Hall. This armor set can later be used by looting zealots of House Va’ruun, one of the main religious groups in the game.
What is most curious about this armor set is that, as a religion that believes in the existence of the Great Serpent, this celestial creature is somewhat reflected in the design of the Va’ruun armor. In the center of the chest plate, there are two ophidian-like tubes that resemble a snake. The Va’ruun spacesuit looks like a standard piece for an organized military group in Starfield, which makes it very intimidating.
6 Starborn Spacesuit Bellum
The Starborn Spacesuit Bellum armor set is one of the most unique ones in Starfield, and makes the player’s character look as if they wear a long dark poncho, as seen in the video by ZelexFPS on YouTube. The chest piece is composed of a long cloth that extends down to the knee. It distinguishes itself from most other spacesuits that usually do not take this approach to design. Its arms are somewhat padded with armor, and its helmet is elegantly slick.
The Starborn Spacesuit Bellum armor set seems to come out of Frank Herbert’s Dune novels as if the suit were made for survival on a desert-like planet. There are other colors to the set with its counterparts in Starfield: Avitus, Gravitas, Locus, Solis, and Venator. They feature slight changes to the design as well, but the general intention remains.
5 Starborn Spacesuit Tenebris
Another great piece of armor from the Starborn series is the Starborn Spacesuit Tenebris, also featured in the video by ZelexFPS. This is, in all of its possibilities, a full armor set with metal plating across the entire body. This set in Starfield seems to be made for agility and combat, especially when taking into consideration its appreciation for metal plating.
The Starborn Spacesuit Tenebris is unequivocally one of the coolest-looking armor pieces in the game simply because it looks like it was designed for a sci-fi shooter game set even further in the future. A capeless Hunter from Destiny 2, for instance, would easily wear this.
4 Incendiary Experimental Nishina Spacesuit
One of the rarest pieces of gear in Starfield, the Incendiary Experimental Nishina spacesuit is also one of the best-looking ones. This is a classic, heavily padded spacesuit that makes player’s characters look as if they were avoiding sunlight radiation at all costs. Nevertheless, the way the suit is designed along with its color palette makes it resemble armor that a bomb-disarmer would wear, as seen in the video by MySpaceGuide on YouTube.
Its helmet is also quite sturdy, but there is something about its geometrical proportions that makes the Incendiary Experimental Nishina spacesuit look like a reference to Doomguy’s armor in Doom. This is exactly what makes it one of the best armor sets in Starfield, aside from the fact that is a Legendary item.
3 Bounty Hunter Spacesuit
Although only acquirable through a very specific method, the Bounty Hunter spacesuit is one of the coolest ones in Starfield. When equipped, the armor set makes the character look like a shady bounty hunter who thrives in the cover of darkness. The long cape-like aspect of the body piece makes it extremely elegant.
When paired with the set’s helmet, the design is complete, adding to the aesthetic value of the spacesuit altogether. While it may not be worth getting due to the in-game impact it may cause, the Bounty Hunter spacesuit is, indeed, a sight to behold in Starfield.
2 Sentinel’s UC Antixeno Spacesuit
One of the rarest pieces of gear in the game is the Sentinel’s UC Antixeno Spacesuit, and it is equally beautiful. The special set of armor is bulky and full of metal plating spread across the chest, legs, and arms, as seen in the video by ZaFrostPet on YouTube. This will make the character look like a one-person tank in Starfield.
This is no coincidence, as the armor is made for facing the terrible Terrormorphs and other dangerous alien lifeforces in Starfield. The Sentinel’s UC Antixeno Spacesuit is one of the armor sets that looks the safest against perilous creatures and will likely not rip or break when hit by them.
1 Tardigrade Monster Costume
The absolute best armor set is not actually armor, per si, but a hilarious costume. The Tardigrade Monster Costume in Starfield needs to be obtained through a side quest – to be more specific, the related mission needs to be completed a total of three times. Regardless, it is one of the best Easter Eggs in the game, as shown by LunarGaming on YouTube.
Although it has very poor gameplay value when compared to strong spacesuits, the Monster Costume lets players run around as if they were a person dressed up as a large tardigrade for Halloween. Due to both its uniqueness and comedic appeal, it is easily the coolest of all armor sets in Starfield.
