If you are searching for a new show about a fantastical world, Upload will definitely satisfy. Though the technology and world-building is certainly a draw of the show, much of the show’s success is due to the central mystery and the development of the main characters. This is similar to the Harry Potter films as the same three elements resulted in the franchise’s success.
Anytime a show has any similarities or parallels to Harry Potter, fans instantly begin to envision how the characters would fare in the Harry Potter universe. This quickly leads to the sorting of characters into their Hogwarts houses. So which Hogwarts houses would the characters from Upload be sorted into? Well, you’ll have to keep reading to find out!
David: Slytherin
David Choak is Nathan’s widely successful neighbor. This self-made insanely wealthy man is proud of what he has accomplished in life. It is clear that he is a highly ambitious individual who is willing to do anything to succeed.
David is cunning and is the first one to suggest that Nathan was murdered, pointing out the mysterious circumstances surrounding Nathan’s death. He laughs at Nathan’s naivety and suggests that if Nathan had been threatening his business he wouldn’t have hesitated to take him out. From this comment and several others, it is clear that David embodies the traits of Slytherin as he is ambitious, cunning, achievement-oriented, and puts his own desires above those of others.
Dylan: Gryffindor
The word that best describes Dylan is bold. This young character seems to have no fear as he daringly rushes into circumstances. Like many Gryffindors, he has a temper and is frustrated by being trapped in a kid’s body as he feels his body should match the number of years he has been a sentient being.
He craves adventure and even adjusts the afterlife settings to video game mode to get an adrenaline rush.
Ernie: Ravenclaw
One of the wisest members of the Upload cast of characters exists in Ernie. Though Ernie’s avatar is a golden retriever, he is actually a highly intelligent human therapist.
He works with both Nathan and Luke, asking thought-provoking questions in his highly soothing voice. He can be sarcastic as well, continuing to demonstrate his cleverness through his word choice.
Lucy: Slytherin
Lucy is Nora and Aleesha’s boss. She has a no-nonsense attitude and is a controlling boss. She is cunning, which is evidenced through her entering Nora’s avatar to discourage her relationship with Nathan.
Lucy enjoys her power and there is some suggestion that she may have been willing to go to questionable extremes to obtain this power. Her strong leadership and shrewdness would certainly earn her a place in Slytherin.
Nevaeh: Ravenclaw
Nevaeh is Nathan’s young niece. It is clear that this character is wise beyond her years. She eloquently expresses herself and seems to notice things that the adults around her overlook.
Nevaeh is creative and enjoys expressing herself through dance. She also values originality and individuality. She has a strong sense of identity and takes pride in who she is. She is also willing to accept others for who they are and politely defends Ingrid to her family.
Luke: Gryffindor
Luke is extremely bold. He often creates elaborate plans but rarely thinks them through, choosing to daringly charge forward. This is sometimes reckless and he has gotten himself into a number of challenging situations.
This Gryffindor is also a military veteran who was paralyzed during his service, adding to his bravery.
Ingrid: Hufflepuff
Ingrid isn’t your stereotypical Hufflepuff, but she is a Hufflepuff. She is extremely loyal and becomes distressed when she finds herself in the middle of a conflict between her father and Nathan. She tries her best to be devoted to both of these individuals by continuing to respect her father while trying to protect Nathan. Fearing for Nathan’s life, she pressures him to Upload. Though she is misguided in her attempts to control him, she makes it clear that she is doing this because she believes it is for the best.
She is a passionate individual who devotes herself to many interests. Even after Nathan dies, Ingrid continues to try to connect with his family, especially his niece Nevaeh. Though her desire to be liked by her family who treats her cruelly prevents her from speaking up on her own behalf, she is quick to kindly intervene when they tease Nevaeh. When Ingrid decides to give the pair similar makeovers, she listens to Nevaeh’s request, matching her own hair to Nevaeh’s instead of vice-versa. She is appreciative of the support she gets and even calls Horizons to praise Nora after her help with Nathan. Ingrid is disturbed by the lack of connection she has with Nathan now that he is uploaded and is willing to go to extremes to repair their relationship. She even seemingly uploads to be with him, though fans suspect there may be more to the story.
Aleesha: Gryffindor
Gryffindors are willing to bend the rules if they fit the greater good, but they don’t appreciate people taking advantage of systems for their own gain. This is definitely true of Aleesha.
Though she is frustrated by Luke, she is quick to engage in similar antics. Like Luke, she often doesn’t think things through and regularly gets warnings at her job. Aleesha can also be very blunt and is incredibly bold. She says what she is thinking without pausing to consider the impact this may have on her.
Nora: Hufflepuff
Nora is loyal to those she cares about. She is fiercely devoted to her father and Nathan and goes out of her way to obtain the best for both of them. Nora is also a hard worker, supporting her family and working to get her rating up so that she can provide a good afterlife for her father.
She values her connection with others and is afraid to lose those she cares about. Nora also believes in fair play. She makes no attempt to cheat during the competition even though Nathan desperately needs the prize. She also works hard to discover what happened to Nathan and is disgusted when she learns that Nathan betrayed his friend Jamie. Nora’s values line up well with the values of Hufflepuff house.
Nathan: Slytherin
Nathan makes decisions based on what he feels is best for him both in life and in the afterlife. He is willing to cheat on Ingrid while lying to her so that he can continue to use her account while doing what makes him happy.
He is extremely ambitious and was working hard to launch his company. At the end of season 1, it was revealed that he double-crossed his best friend after they disagreed about the direction in which to take the company. Nathan wants power and control. His decision to downgrade to a 2 gig was fueled by his desire to regain power and control of his own life, not by his desire to do the right thing by Ingrid. It seems pretty clear that Nathan is a Slytherin.
