Netflix’s The Brothers Sun season 2 has many questions to answer due to the open-ended storylines at the end of season 1. The martial arts dramedy follows Charles Sun, the son of Taiwanese mobster Big Sun, as he’s sent to Los Angeles in order to protect his estranged mother and brother. Because he left Taiwan at such a young age, Charles’ brother – Bruce – has no knowledge of the illicit ties, creating hilarity and chaos as he discovers his family’s secret life.
After eight action-packed episodes, The Brother Sun came to a dramatic close with Big Sun in the hospital, Charles and Eileen leaving for Taipei, and Frank Ma agreeing to snitch on the mob. Though The Brothers Sun season 2 hasn’t been confirmed yet, the probability seems high based on the success of the first season and the star power attached to the project. Plus, The Brothers Sun‘s creator addressed season 2’s likelihood, saying that the show wasn’t intended to be a miniseries. Luckily, The Brothers Sun season 1 creates just as many questions as it answers.

One of the biggest questions set up by the ending of The Brothers Sun season 1 is whether Frank Ma will end up testifying against Big Sun. While he already agreed to do this, the post-credits scene shows Yuan, Big Sun’s right-hand man, discussing saving his master by preventing Frank Ma from speaking. It’s heavily implied that he will try to find and kill Frank Ma, which could set up the plot for The Brothers Sun season 2. It will be interesting to see the police trying to keep Frank Ma safe as it gets closer to the trial.

When Eileen returns home towards the end of The Brothers Sun season 1, she goes to dance with an old flame named Byron. Now that she’s made a clean break from Big Sun, there’s a potential to explore the former romance between Eileen and Byron. This could help her heal from the trauma and pain caused by her former marriage. Additionally, depending on Byron’s personality, their potential relationship could show a man supporting a woman who’s trying to succeed. This would be a stark contrast to the way Big Sun treats Eileen.
8 Does Bruce Become An Improv Actor?
Bruce Is Torn Between Two Worlds
Throughout The Brothers Sun season 1, Bruce pursues his passion for improv, much to the chagrin of his mother. She eventually comes around to the idea with Charles and Eileen even coming to one of his shows before leaving for Taipei. However, by the end of the series, Bruce also seems to have changed his perspective, taking on a more family-oriented role. The Brothers Sun season 2 can take steps to clarify his priorities by showing whether he has continued with improv or shifted his focus onto something else.

Big Sun Could Cause Problems For The Other Suns
After getting shot by Bruce, Big Sun calls an ambulance and gets taken into the emergency room. Before leaving, Eileen comes by and uses her role as a nurse to change his records, marking him diabetic. The insulin she gives is meant to keep him weak and docile. However, it seems unlikely that he’ll actually stay in the hospital for any extended period of time. After all, the Triad seems to infiltrate everything. This raises the question whether he’ll escape the hospital on his own or get help from one of the Jade Dragons.
6 Are The Boxers Entirely Wiped Out?
The Boxers Could Come Back In The Brothers Sun Season 2
During The Brothers Sun season 1, the Boxers work to take out the Triad so that they can free the Taiwanese people who are being exploited and harmed. This all comes to a head when they come to attack the Triad meeting, and almost everyone on both sides dies. However, they never clarify whether everyone leading the Boxers was wiped out. If the Brothers Sun season 2 happens, it will need to show how any remaining Boxers handle the fallout from the event. They could regroup and try to prevent the Triad from building their empire again.
5 Will Charles Have A Normal Life In Taipei?
Charles Must Find A Way Out Of The Jade Dragons
One of the biggest character developments in The Brothers Sun season 1 is Charles coming to terms with the fact that he doesn’t want a life in the Jade Dragons anymore. However, he ultimately decides to leave for Taipei to support his mother as she tries to become the Head Dragon. This could lead him back into the life that he doesn’t want. Alternatively, Charles could help Eileen as needed while also living a normal life in Taipei. It will be interesting to see which direction they ultimately go with his storyline in The Brothers Sun season 2.

TK’s Future Isn’t Addressed At The End Of The Brothers Sun
June and TK get metaphorically adopted into Bruce and Charles’ chosen family, so they need to be main characters in The Brothers Sun season 2. The end of the series gives June a clear path. She leaves with Charles and Eileen for Taipei, but there’s no clear narrative direction for TK. He’s now more confident in his abilities, and he’s gained back the respect of Bruce. He presumably can’t join the Jade Dragon because he’s Korean, not Chinese or Taiwanese. The Brother Sun needs to find a storyline for him that matches his character development.
1 Does Bruce Join The Jade Dragons?
The Youngest Sun Could Follow in His Family’s Legacy
The ending of The Brothers Sun season 1 makes it seem like Bruce will have no involvement in the Jade Dragons. He’s presumably staying in California to finish his studies and pursue improv. However, all of the higher-ups in the Jade Dragons and Triad died in the explosion, other members will need to fill in the gaps. If Bruce joins the Jade Dragons in The Brothers Sun season 2, he can help control the members in California while Eileen, Charles, and June get the ranks organized in Taipei.
