10 Best Unvaulted Fortnite Items (Chapter 4 Season OG)

To score a Victory Royale in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season OG, players need to assemble a competitive loadout with the best unvaulted items and weapons they can find. Almost all of the items that players know from previous seasons have been replaced by classic gear from the depths of the Fortnite content vault. Getting to know these new items can give you a valuable advantage over your opponents.

Fortnite’s Season OG lasts until December 2nd and reintroduces the original island map from Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 5. As such, it works best when fired from the hip. However, because the Heavy Shotgun fires a single slug, it also has a bit of extra range compared to standard shotguns, which rapidly lose power at long distances. As such, it can be surprisingly accurate and deadly when aiming down sights.

9 Hand Cannon

The Hand Cannon is perhaps the best pistol in the game at the moment, packing a vicious single-shot punch that deals impressive amounts of damage. On top of that, it also has a 2x headshot multiplier.

Unfortunately, the Hand Cannon’s damage output comes with a downside, as the weapon has a considerable amount of recoil and a low rate of fire. It’s less ideal in close-range firefights where you’ll typically want higher rates of fire, but it’s the perfect choice for starting a fight against any unaware opponents you come across. A single shot is enough to take a big chunk out of health and shields, immediately forcing any opponent to go on the defensive.

8 Scoped AR

Uncommon/Rare/Epic/Legendary Quality Only

The Scoped Assault Rifle was one of the first weapons to appear in Fortnite, and it’s one of the best items for dealing with enemies at medium to long-range. It has a low rate of fire, but unlike the game’s sniper rifles, it’s fully automatic and has a bigger clip, so you don’t have to reload after every shot. It’s ideal for hitting distant enemies repeatedly before they have time to react, and the attached 2x scope makes it much more accurate than other Assault Rifles.

To use the Scoped AR effectively, however, you’ll want to choose your Fortnite landing spot carefully. It’s a lethal weapon in areas with a lot of open space, but in dense areas with lots of cover, it’s best to rely on other guns in your loadout.

7 Impulse Grenade

The Impulse Grenade is a classic Fortnite wildcard item, allowing you to easily throw off any opponents who get too close. 6 Port-A-Fort

Fortnite’s Port-A-Fort item is essentially a portable cover system, allowing you to create a basic fortification in a matter of seconds. Tossing down a Port-A-Fort spawns in a basic ramshackle fort, with a door and accessible roof that’s fantastic for gaining a height advantage over your opponents. The Port-A-Fort is made of metal, so it’s reasonably sturdy, but still won’t last long in an explosive firefight.

However, having a bit of extra cover and a vantage point for sniping can prove incredibly useful in many different situations. While ideal for Fortnite players who don’t like to build, it’s worth noting that the Port A Fort still works in Fortnite’s Zero Build modes. The only downside to this item is that the fort tends to stand out regardless of where you build it, so you can expect to draw a bit of attention by using it.

5 Rift-To-Go

The Rift-To-Go creates a portable Rift when used, teleporting the player high into the sky right above where they were standing. It’s quick to use and only takes half a second to deploy, making it tough for most opponents to eliminate you before you manage to escape. However, as Epic quality items, Rift-To-Go throwables can be a little hard to find.

4 Burst Assault Rifle

The Burst AR fires a short and highly accurate three-shot burst every time the trigger is pulled, allowing you to peel away enemy health and shields. Like most of Fortnite’s Assault Rifles, it works best at medium-range where you stand a better chance of hitting an opponent.

You’re essentially trading some of the Scoped AR’s ranged capabilities for an increased damage output at medium-range. On top of that, it’s also quite easy to find, even in the early stages of a match.

3 Boogie Bomb

Rare Quality Utility Item

The Boogie Bomb is essentially the perfect representation of Fortnite. Any player hit by a Boogie Bomb is forced to dance, acting out a special emote that lasts for several seconds. While the comic value of the Boogie Bomb is undeniable, the dance emote also stops anyone hit by it from shooting, building, or using any items. The effect doesn’t last long, but it grants you a small window where your opponent isn’t able to fight back, giving you a powerful split-second advantage in combat.

Unfortunately, players hit by the Boogie Bomb can still move and run, so they aren’t completely helpless. However, without the ability to shoot, use items, or build, they suddenly become much easier targets.

2 Grenade Launcher

Unless you’re playing in Zero Build Mode, building is a core part of Fortnite. Luckily, the Grenade Launcher is the perfect solution for anyone who needs to break down an opponent’s structures and defenses. The Grenade Launcher fires explosive projectiles that can demolish structures with ease, damaging any players unfortunate enough to be caught in the blast. It deals an impressive amount of splash damage, so accuracy isn’t much of an issue.

The Rocket Launcher works similarly and can be a useful alternative. However, it only fires rockets in straight lines, so it’s easier for opponents to get out of the blast zone before they’re hit. The Grenade Launcher is harder to predict and the better weapon overall.

1 Assault Rifle

The Epic and Legendary variants of the Assault Rifle are arguably the best weapons in Season OG. Fortnite’s basic Assault Rifle is effective in most combat encounters, thanks to its solid fire rate, accuracy and reload speed. The only difference between the Epic and Legendary variants of the Assault Rifle is increased damage, transforming it from a solid all-around gun to an essential part of any player’s loadout.

With high damage per shot, impressive accuracy, and a decent fire rate, the AR is effective at all ranges and can be incredibly deadly in the right hands. It’s worth noting that many of the other weapons and items on this list might be better choices, but only in specific scenarios. For general exploration and combat, there’s no better choice than the Epic/Legendary AR.
