Two androids are forced to raise human children on an alien planet after Earth was destroyed in a war. Along the way, they must walk a tightrope between the human colonist’s beliefs in order to preserve the community.

Raised By Wolves explores many complicated themes regarding human emotions and the relationship between communities. It has been critically well-received and considered one of the best sci-fi shows on TV, according to Rotten Tomatoes. Though it delves into heavy territory, fans of Lost In Space will enjoy the struggle of a community to survive on an alien planet and the drama that comes along with it.

An American astronaut named John Crichton is accidentally launched across the universe and into the middle of an alien conflict. While most sci-fi shows play with suspense, Nightflyers turns the suspense up with each episode. More frightening than most sci-fi shows, it depicts space not as an exciting new frontier to explore but a terrifying place of isolation. Though different from Lost In Space in many ways, Nightflyers offers a different take on space exploration that hadn’t been considered before.

Another Life is a perfect blend of sci-fi concepts. While the idea of exploring space is exciting it is also undeniably dangerous. With a mystery plot concerning an alien artifact added in, the show becomes a well-rounded sci-fi drama.

Babylon 5 (1993 – 1998) Available On HBO Max

The Babylon 5 space station is the setting for the series of the same name. Onboard, interplanetary conflicts are carried out on a personal level between the representatives of those alien worlds. Babylon 5 focuses on the difficulties of diplomatic relations between worlds, as well as weaving in a complicated mystery about purpose and identity.

In the Babylon 5 universe, space is not only a place of exploration and discovery but also a dark place of many dangers. Ultimately though, the biggest dangers come from within the ship and all of the disparate species that must coexist together onboard.

Battlestar Galactica offered fans the perfect mixture of classic sci-fi concepts and tense interpersonal drama that gave the show its flavor. Battlestar was also a modern re-telling of a show from the 1970s, which gave older fans what they wanted while modernizing the concept to suit newer viewers. Though the original sci-fi TV series only lasted one season, the revival got a full run, as well as several spinoffs and films.
