2016’s The Secret Life of Pets features a kind-hearted cast of characters, including Katie and her cute dogs Duke and Max.
Duke and Max are in big trouble at the beginning of the movie as Animal Control takes them, and thankfully, Snowball the rabbit saves their lives. This movie has more sadness and tension than Clifford The Big Red Dog but both are moving stories of pets.

2006’s Over The Hedge tells the hilarious story of a group of animals who make the tough trek over a hedge who they name Steve and begin seeing how humans really live… and eat. The movie shows the adventures of these sweet animals, from RJ the raccoon to Verne the turtle, as they learn more about the various foods that humans in suburbia enjoy.
It’s always fun seeing animals go on an adventure and these characters have such big, vibrant and unique personalities, making this a comforting story that can be watched time and time again.

Beethoven is a heartwarming 1990s movie that many have positive memories of after watching during childhood.
The Newtons love having Beethoven the dog be a part of their family, and as the children get older, they lean on Beethoven to help them through life’s highs and lows. It’s definitely hard for them to imagine what life would be like without him, just like Emily’s life is forever altered when she meets the huge dog named Clifford.
Alvin And The Chipmunks (Stream On Disney+)
There are several Alvin And The Chipmunks movies and the 2007 film features the beloved chipmunks Alvin, Theodore, and Simon who love to sing. Dave, who writes songs and is having a tough time, meets the sweet chipmunks and starts taking care of them, making sure that they can cope with becoming more well-known.
Dave is a mentor of sorts to the chipmunks and takes them under his wing, just like Emily looks out for Clifford in Clifford The Big Red Dog.
Marley And Me (Stream On Amazon Prime)
Marley And Me is much sadder than Clifford The Big Red Dog, but both stories are about how the love for a pet can be life-changing.
Adapted from John Grogan’s memoir, Marley And Me sees John and Jenny starting their married life together and taking care of a Labrador puppy. Marley may create chaos in their home, but they love every moment of it, just like Emily is a huge fan of Clifford in the 2021 movie.
Hotel For Dogs (Stream On Netflix)
Bruce and Andi have a tragic backstory in Hotel For Dogs as they’re orphans who live in foster care. They’re compassionate and love dogs and they set up a kind of hotel for animals so they can be safe and cared for.
While Hotel For Dogs is more family friendly than Emma Roberts’ best movies and TV shows, it’s a heartwarming choice for fans of Clifford The Big Red Dog who want to see another story about adorable animals that tugs at the heartstrings.

The 2020 movie Scoob! is the latest entry in the Scooby-Doo franchise that is perfect for fans of the Great Dane who talks and solves mysteries along with his pals Shaggy, Daphne, Velma, and Fred. In this installment, Scooby is part of a supernatural story and Dastardly wants Scooby to unlock gates to an Underworld so he can get his dog back.
Both Scoob! and Clifford The Big Red Dog feature charming and sweet dogs who become part of the action and who kids will wish were real. Kids and adults alike definitely think that being part of the Scooby Gang would be a lot of fun.

Movie fans looking for a romantic comedy that is about dogs and the people who love them will be big fans of Dog Days. The movie features some adorable meet cutes typical of rom-coms as everyone meets each other through their pets.
