10 Best JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Stand Battles That Prove Why the Series is so Revolutionary

10 Best JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Stand Battles That Prove Why the Series is so Revolutionary

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of the most action-filled and astounding anime series in recent years, filled with fight sequences that are almost too incredible to fathom. The fights in JJBA aren’t simply placed there just to fill up time or look cool. Some of the most important character growth, tragic deaths, and overall plot development that occur in the storyline occur during intense battles. With the introduction of Stands in season 3, beginning with main character Jotaro Kujo’s Stand, Star Platinum, the series took a new turn.

Prior to this point, battles were fought using only Hamon energy and pure physical strength, but Stands allowed the heroes in the series to utilize a brand-new form of powers that are typically personified in a human-like form that follows the Stand User around, ready to assist them should a threat appear. The variety of different kinds of Stands seems nearly endless, offering users skills such as astounding physical strength, ice powers, and weather manipulation, to name a few.

Bruno Bucciarati Vs. Giorno Giovanna Introduced The Main Heroes Of Part 5

Bruno and Giorno later became friends and fought side by side, but their first interaction wasn’t pleasant

Part 5 of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, more commonly known as “Golden Wind“, followed mob boss Bruno Bucciarati and his team as they fought to end their city’s rampant drug problem and take down the terrifying mob boss, Diavolo. When Passione gang member Luca died, Bucciarati suspected Giorno knew something and cornered him on a train, causing a clash between the two powerful Stand Users. This initial battle showcased the capabilities of two of the most impressive Stands in all of Jojo’s, Giorno’s Golden Experience and Bruno’s Sticky Fingers.

The fight thankfully ended without too much injury or bloodshed, and Bruno even invited his opponent to join his team, discovering their personal ideals and hatred of corruption matched well. This is one of Jojo’s greatest Stand battles because it showed off Sticky Fingers’ impressive ability to unzip walls and even another human, allowing Bucciarati to hide inside. This fight also displayed Golden Experience’s ability to birth new life, which Giorno utilized to fashion one of Bruno’s teeth into a fly and use the creature to catch him. Both of their Stands prove immensely valuable in later encounters with enemies, and this first fight gave viewers a clear picture of how creative, unique, and innovative their Stands truly are.

Risotto Nero Vs. Vinegar Doppio Resulted In One Of The Fighter’s Death

Risotto met his end in this battle, due to a clever, last-second move by Diavolo

The seemingly sweet and unassuming character, Doppio, actually possesses two identities. His second personality was Diavolo, a terrifying and evil mob boss bent on causing destruction and corruption in Italy. When the immensely mighty Risotto took Doppio on, he underestimated him, seeing only his oftentimes humorous behavior and what he perceived as weakness. Diavolo’s powerful time-erasing stand, King Crimson, secured the victory at the last moment, stunning Risotto.

This battle is one of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure’s best because it perfectly displayed Doppio’s second identity and the sheer power he held, as well as showing off King Crimson’s ability to erase time, somewhat similar to Dio Brando’s The World Stand that stopped time in the Stardust Crusaders arc. Stopping time is one of the most menacing and undefeatable techniques a Stand can implement in Jojo’s, so this battle paints Doppio/Diavolo as one of Jojo’s most insurmountable villains, giving the Bucciarati gang the tough job of taking him down.

Team Bucciarati Vs. Pesci & Prosciutto Unveiled The Pair’s Truly One-Of-A-Kind Skills

Working together, the brothers did not defeat the Bucciarati gang, but put up quite a fight

Prosciutto’s stand, The Grateful Dead, allowed him to cause anyone he chooses to rapidly grow older, and Pesci’s Stand, Beach Boy, utilized a fishing hook and line to snag enemies and defeat them. The two worked closely together and this in-sync style of teamwork fighting almost destroyed the members of the Bucciarati gang. Thankfully, Bruno’s cunning nature and ability to stay calm in a crisis enabled him to use Sticky Fingers to slice up and kill the foes, ending the terror they were causing.

This battle is one of Jojo’s most revolutionary because the stakes were so high, and Bruno was almost killed. The pair of brothers backed the talented boss into a corner, but instead of succumbing to their tactics, he tricked them, fought them off of the train, and used Sticky Fingers to succeed in the end, proving the power his unique zipper Stand possesses. Fans will surely feel their hearts pounding with true shock during the many twists and turns of this fight, but the heroes fortunately prevailed in the end due to some clever strategy and Stand usage.

7
Jolyne Kujo Vs. C-Moon/Enrico Pucci Leveled Up Pucci’s Stand With Horrifying Consequences

This was the first of a few evolutions of Pucci’s Stand, originally called Whitesnake

In Part Six, entitled Stone Ocean, Enrico Pucci was able to do something unbelievable: level up his Stand to a new and more powerful version with additional skills. His original Stand Whitesnake used discs to create visual deceptions, but the new C-Moon was much mightier, able to use simple punches to literally turn an enemy inside out. This fight also showcases the bold nature and resilience of Jolyne, since she was clever and talented enough to survive even a hit from C-Moon.

Pucci’s Stand only stayed as C-Moon for a short while, quickly graduating into the final iteration of his horrifying list of Stands: Made In Heaven. This fight is one of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure’s most exciting and most crucial because it established Pucci’s place as the most threatening villain since Dio, perhaps even surpassing his mentor. Pucci’s plans to reset the universe are terrifying and appalling, and his expert Stand techniques showed fans he just might be capable of accomplishing these atrocities.

6
Jean Pierre Polnareff And Iggy Vs. Vanilla Ice Is Tragic And Showed Iggy’s Bravery

In one of the series’ most heartbreaking battles, fans unfortunately had to say goodbye to a beloved hero

One of the most devastating moments in JJBA was the loss that occurred as Polnareff and Iggy took on one of Dio’s henchmen, Vanilla Ice. Avdol had unfortunately already been murdered by the relentless vampire, and when he turned on Jean Pierre and Iggy next, the little dog made a truly touching sacrifice to save his friend. They were both gravely injured in the fight, and it could’ve ended horribly for the pair, but the dog channeled his strength into utilizing his sand creation Stand, The Fool, to save his comrade.

Throughout the series, there are running gags with Polnareff and Iggy hating one another and not getting along. This made it truly touching and heartwarming that Iggy chose to lose his life to ensure Polnareff’s safety. After the dog’s death, Jean Pierre quickly ended Vanilla Ice in retaliation. This is one of Jojo’s best fights because of how moving it is, revealing the undeniable bond between the pair, as well as Iggy’s talented use of a Stand with a skill as seemingly innocuous and simple as sand. Iggy’s unique Stand was wonderful to watch in action, and helped the Stardust Crusaders move one step closer to defeating Dio.

5
Guido Mista & Giorno Giovanna Vs. Ghiaccio Depicted True Teamwork

Giorno and Mista fought in perfect sync, allowing them to triumph over Ghiaccio’s ice power

In the fight against Ghiaccio, Giorno and Mista had to team up and work side by side to take out the intensely threatening evildoer. Ghiaccio’s Stand was simple but intensely deadly: the ability to freeze anything he chose. This crucial battle showcased the importance of teamwork, a theme that appears time and time again in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Giorno or Mista likely would not have defeated Ghiaccio alone, but through fighting in sync with one another, they were able to win.

Mista’s Sex Pistols uses sentient bullets he can control and direct anywhere, while Giorno’s Golden Experience allows him to develop life from simple objects. Mista aimed his bullets toward Ghiaccio while Giorno created helpful aids like adding roots to Mista’s bullets, so they weren’t trapped in the ice. From start to finish, there is no dull moment in this particular fight, and the bond between Mista and Giorno is fully evident, indicated in the way they fought jointly, as if somehow mentally connected, playing off of one another’s moves effortlessly.

4
Josuke Higashikata Vs. Yoshikage Kira Proved Even The Worst Villain Could Be Fooled

The high schooler bested the truly grotesque serial killer with the help of his comrades, as well as sneaky strategic moves

Kira was one of the most relentlessly evil villains in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, while Josuke was only a high schooler. It is truly stunning that Josuke was able to beat the petrifying serial killer. Crazy Diamond, Josuke’s Stand, is mighty, fast, and most importantly of all, possesses a unique regeneration ability, so it can put broken or damaged things back together. He is also very clever and manages to drive the reserved and cautious Kira out of hiding.

Josuke would have been unable to win without help from his friends and, most importantly, Jotaro, whose Stand Star Platinum punched Kira over and over to the point of grave injury. This fight is one of Jojo’s best because Kira was possibly the most sadistic and cruel villain yet, and had proven nearly impossible to defeat, yet a high schooler was finally able to deceive him. Josuke’s actions persuaded Kira not only to walk right into the battlefield where he was defeated, but convinced the conniving killer to accidentally murder his own father. Few Jojo’s characters are as strategic and careful as Josuke, and this is proven through this particular battle.

3
Enrico Pucci Vs. Jotaro, Jolyne, Ermes, Anasui, & Emporio Lead To The Series’ Biggest Twist

This Part Six fight continually drops fans’ jaws, ushering in a completely new world

Enrico Pucci’s Stand continually grew throughout Jojo’s, beginning as Whitesnake, then C-MOON, and finally becoming the almost undefeatable Made in Heaven. This final battle between Pucci and everyone else had the highest stakes of any in Jojo’s history, since the end result would define the fate of the very universe. Pucci intended on starting the entire timeline of the universe over and erasing everything which Jolyne, Jotaro, and the others desperately fought to stop.

This whirlwind fight required each character to give their all, making it one of Jojo’s coolest Stand battles, since each Stand was utilized to its fullest extent. Jolyne’s string-utilizing Stone Free, Jotaro’s hulking Star Platinum, Ermes attack Stand Kiss, Anasui’s innovative Diver Down, and even Emporio’s surprise use of the late Weather Report’s Stand to eliminate Pucci were featured in this clash. Most of the characters perished in this sobering encounter and the ending of Stone Ocean was truly surprising, but this is still undoubtedly one of the most epic Jojo’s fights to witness.

2
Giorno Giovanna Vs. Diavolo Cemented Giorno’s Status As One Of The Most Talented Joestars

This Golden Wind arc hero saved everyone using an advanced version of his Golden Experience Stand

During the fight between the wicked boss Diavolo and the heroic Giorno, a Stand-forming arrow struck the latter’s Stand. Instead of harming the entity, his Stand leveled up into an even more high-powered version entitled Golden Experience Requiem, that aided him in defeating one of the most dastardly villains in Jojo’s. Diavolo’s King Crimson Stand could stop time, which might have seemed impossible to beat, but using Golden Experience Requiem, Giorno caught him by surprise.

The resulting fate was devastating and assigned Diavolo a true punishment. In a sick twist to the way King Crimson had played with time and hurt so many others, the evil boss found himself stuck in a time loop, dying over and over in new and more grotesque ways. This battle proved Giorno’s strength, mercilessness, and intelligence, since he was able to defeat such a villain, and the consequences Diavolo now faces are arguably the worst any Jojo’s character has had to endure, since the infinite cycle of torture will always go on.
