Orange Is The New Black — Netflix
Orange Is The New Black starred an incredible ensemble cast of fresh faces and a new premise of a women’s prison show. It centered around the main character, Piper Chapman as she dealt with a crime she committed years ago and is forced to go to prison. While there, she meets all kinds of women in this gritty Netflix series. The series itself became a pop culture phenomenon with many of the stars of the show blowing up to do amazing things.
The show dealt with a multitude of serious issues and topics from LGBTQ+ rights, to violence in the prison system. The show tackled a lot and still managed to center around a strong female character that people can relate to for years to come.
Sex And The City — HBO Max
This series is one of the most well-known to date. And with the new revival, everyone has got the show in their heads. Sex And The City took a chance and dove into women’s issues and sexuality which is something that used to stay off-limits, especially on television.
Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda have become so iconic that other shows have referenced them. It was ahead of its time when it came to taking back any opinions society has placed on women and women of any age. Together, the group made a good dynamic as they discuss their lives and what was going on amongst each other.

Charmed centered around three sisters who learn they are very powerful witches. Throughout the show’s run, the characters find themselves in dramatic and whimsical storylines as they each grow and learn about each other and themselves. The show dealt with more than just supernatural beings, but they also questioned humanity and fate.
Charmed was very popular during its run which made for a modern reboot. Just like Sex And The City, the female characters were multidimensional and intelligent and each character brought something special to the series. And there were many life lessons to be learned on Charmed. They were fighting literal demons every episode while trying to balance careers and relationships.
Pretty Little Liars — HBO Max
This popular series followed the lives of four high school girls who constantly dealt with blackmail and emotional turmoil. Pretty Little Liars showcased powerful friendships and self-worth. The characters grew so much as the series progressed and led an influential fanbase.
There were storylines that PLL fans found relatable and engaging. It’s no wonder it sparked a reboot and two spin-offs. It was one of the more well-known teen dramas that paved the way for an abundance of mystery-based teen dramas.

It had the perfect amount of drama and intrigue. It also depicted force female personalities and strong friendships despite what they go through during the series.

This series followed the lives of a group of women trying to thrive during the 1980s. Pose centered around the gritty side of New York City during that time and ball culture. Fans adored this series so much because of its realistic depictions. It was able to portray women of color and also be one of the best LGBTQ+ shows in the past couple of years.
The show’s storylines captivated so many viewers and kept them interested. The fact that this series was able to provide positive representation is worth noting after a long history of either negative representation or none at all.
The Golden Girls — Hulu
This series is one of the most successful and notable sitcoms starring an all-women cast. It’s both timeless and hilarious. The characters are iconic in their rights with each one-liner or storyline. This series held up with the concept of women of a certain age thriving or living their best lives.

Desperate Housewives — Amazon Prime Video
This 2004 tv series followed the lives of four housewives who embark on many journeys in their small town. It had many heartfelt moments while also being as dramatic as possible. And although Desperate Housewives was a soap opera first and foremost, it had many underrated funny moments and quotes.
These housewives dealt with life-altering events, divorce, careers, and murder. They managed to sustain their households and kept up with each other despite everything that went on in their lives. The friendships alone are admirable because they highlighted the positive parts of female friendships and independent mindsets that women possess.
