10 Best Demon Slayer Fights That Made The Anime So Popular

Demon Slayer is one of the most popular anime series in recent years, and one of the reasons it is so well known is for its incredible, well-animated fight scenes. Throughout the past three seasons of the series, many impressive battles from the manga have been adapted with stunning animation.

The Demon Slayer anime series has never been more popular than it is currently, with the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Hashira Training movie set to be the next installment in the series. Many high-stakes fights with jaw-dropping action have appeared throughout the episodes of the anime. Since one of the key themes of the series is powerful demon slayers fighting against villainous demons, it makes sense that these battles are so astounding to watch.

10 Tanjiro and Nezuko Vs. Giyu Sets The Stage For The Series

Episode 1 (Season 1)

10 Best Demon Slayer Fights That Made The Anime So Popular

The first true confrontation depicted in the Demon Slayer anime certainly gave the series a phenomenal start, gripping viewers from the very beginning. Much to his horror, Tanjiro discovered his family was dead, aside from his little sister Nezuko, who became a demon. Water Hashira, Giyu, arrives on the scene and attempted to kill Nezuko, given his role as a demon slayer. The siblings fought together to protect each other and, stunned and touched by the bond between human and demon, the Water Hashira agreed to let her live.

Although the fight is relatively short and simple, it is a perfect example of the best battles Demon Slayer has to offer. As well as revealing Giyu’s fighting skills, the scene also shows Nezuko and Tanjiro’s love for one another as siblings, and asserts that even Nezuko’s transformation into a demon doesn’t affect her love for her brother. This is a touching sentiment that appears many times in the anime. It was a nerve-wracking battle to watch, that thankfully ended well, and it set up the rest of the Demon Slayer series flawlessly.

9 Nezuko Vs. Daki Showcased Nezuko’s Power For The First Time

Episodes 37-43 (Season 2)

Demon Slayer's Tanjiro and Nezuko learn her secret ability.

This battle showed Nekuko’s abilities and physical strength more fully than ever before. When Tanjiro was taken down by the demon, Nezuko immediately retaliated to protect her beloved brother. Shockingly, the younger demon managed to kick Daki’s head off in a gory scene. Throughout the fight, even after having to regenerate limbs that were cut off, she never gave up and only left the battle when Tanjiro forced her to rest.

This scene may seem like one of the less exciting fights in the series, but it is actually one of the best because it gave viewers a clear impression of Nezuko’s power levels. In previous episodes, she spent a lot of time hiding from the sun, muzzled, and resting in a wooden box on her brother’s back. This battle finally gave Nezuko a chance to shine and show off her technique against a threatening opponent.

8 Zenitsu Vs. Spider Demon Son Proved That Zenitsu Hides Great Strength

Episode 17 (Season 1)

Demon Slayer's Zenitsu holding his sword

Zenitsu received a chance to unleash his stunning Thunder Breathing in this fight with the Spider Demon Son. When the demon attempted to kill the demon slayer using deadly poison, Zenitsu retaliated with his astounding technique. In a surprising and amazing moment, he sent all the spiders the demon directed towards him flying back and landed a final lightning blow on the Spider Demon Son, defeating him.

Although this fight wasn’t one with very high stakes, it is one of the best because it is visually incredible and gave Zenitsu a chance to shine and solidify his identity as a strong character and not just someone ruled by fear. The lightning attacks are also animated flawlessly. This is one of Demon Slayer’s first glimpses into the sheer power of Zenitsu’s Breathing Technique, which makes the scene remarkable.

7 Tanjiro, Nezuko, Tamayo and Yushiro Vs. Susamaru and Yahaba Is One Of The Most Creative Battles

Episodes 8-10 (Season 1)

Demon Slayer Susamaru and Yahaba

Siblings Tanjiro and Nezuko teamed up with Tamayo and Yushiro to fight off two of Muzan’s terrifying underlings. The demons used an intriguing set of techniques involving balls and arrows against the demon slayers, which is very interesting to watch in action. Eventually, Tanjiro and Nezuko took down Yahaba completely and defeated Susamaru to the point where Muzan finished her off himself, ashamed at her failure.

For several reasons, this is one of Demon Slayer’s most exciting fights. It was one of the first battles Tanjiro engaged in after becoming an official member of the Demon Slayer Corps. The two demons also possessed very unique fighting styles that are captivating to watch: Susamaru’s temari balls and Yuhaba’s arrows. Another detail that makes the fight so intriguing is that the siblings teamed up with two demons, Tamayo and Yushiro, who were seeking demon blood samples in order to figure out how to transform demons back into humans, which could potentially help Nezuko in the future.

6 Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Giyu Vs. Rui Showcased The Siblings’ Bond

Episodes 18-20 (Season 1)

Tanjiro wielding his sword preparing to defeat Rui in Demon Slayer episode 19.

The fight between Tanjiro, his sister Nezuko, and the spider demon Rui was intense and thrilling. The fight began with Rui becoming jealous once he realized the close-knit sibling relationship between Tanjiro and Nezuko, wishing he possessed that bond with someone. Rui and Tanjiro battled aggressively for a while, and it quickly became clear that the spider demon was winning, until Nezuko swooped in to save her beloved brother. They worked to defeat the demon through teamwork and, eventually, Water Hashira Giyu joined the battle and was the final victor.

Rui was an immensely powerful villain and the siblings were only able to protect each other against his attacks by working together. The fight showcased the pair’s sibling bond phenomenally and gave a glimpse into how their fighting styles complement one another. This battle is one of the best in the series because, up to this point, it is the most visually stunning and high-stakes yet.

5 Demon Slayers Vs. Enmu Proved How Powerful The Twelve Kitsuki Are

Episodes 31-32 (Demon Slayer: Mugen Train)

Enmu In Demon Slayer: Mugen Train

Enmu, the Lower Rank One of the Twelve Kitsuki, is one of the most creative demons the demon slayers have faced off against in the series. The demon’s powers were quite interesting, as he could control his opponent’s dreams and make them believe lies or relive horrible nightmares. Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Rengoku all became involved in the fight as well, since Enmu’s Blood Demon Art was immensely strong. Eventually, Tanjiro beheads the demon, becoming wounded in the process but winning nonetheless.

This battle is one of the best in Demon Slayer for a few reasons. It showcased Enmu’s fascinating set of techniques, including his ability to make people fall asleep and dream anything he desires. The fight was also high-stakes, since Tanjiro focused not only on taking down his enemy, but also protecting the Mugen Train passengers. Finally, this scene was an excellent display of teamwork between the demon slayers and Rengoku, revealing the series’ common theme of working together to defeat difficult opponents.

4 Muichiro Vs. Gyokko Is Disturbing And Spectacular

Episodes 48-53 (Season 3)

Demon Slayer Gyokko fighting demon slayer Muichiro

This season three battle was Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito’s most exciting battle yet. The Upper Rank Five demon was beheaded by talented demon slayer Muichiro in a difficult and spectacularly animated confrontation. In this fight, the demon slayer’s stunning styles of Mist Breathing were finally displayed in all of their glory, as well as Gyokko’s Blood Demon Art, which utilized elements like fish and poison needles.

The reason this is one of Demon Slayer’s best battles is because it contains some of the series’ best animation so far, as well as offering Muichiro some excellent character development. The Mist Hashira realized that although he had been betrayed in the past, he could depend on others, when Kotetsu and Tanjiro put themselves in danger to help him. With this renewed hope, fans saw Muichiro grow tremendously in both his breathing technique and motivation, making this scene truly excellent.

3 Tanjiro, Nezuko, Genya, and Mitsuri Vs. Hantengu Showed The Power Of The Upper Ranks

Episodes 47-51, 53-55 (Season 3)

Upper Rank Four Hantengu is the most formidable threat the demon slayers have faced in the anime series because of his high rank. Multiple Hashira had to team up to take the high-powered demon down and this fight was one of the longest lasting in Demon Slayer. This enemy is particularly challenging because his Blood Demon Art offered him a unique layer of protection: the ability to clone himself.

Although Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the Hashiras won against Hantengu, it was a strenuous confrontation that showed the importance of working as a team. The demon slayers had to split up to defeat his clones, before all coming together at the end for a final showdown. Not only does this scene show off the slayers’ impressive techniques both together and apart, it is the most important battle in the entire anime up to this point, as Hantengu is the strongest upper rank demon the demon slayers have come across. Because of these factors, this is one of Demon Slayer’s best battles.

2 Tengen Vs. Gyutaro Is Still A Fan-Favorite

Episodes 37-43 (Season 2)

Demon Slayer Season 2 Tengen Uzui and Gyutaro

Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui versus Upper Rank Gyutaro is an incredibly critical battle in the Demon Slayer series. The pair fought one-on-one during a larger battle between the Demon Slayers and Tengen versus Gyutaro and his sister, Daki. Tengen became severely wounded and Gyutaro assumed he was dead, so he was surprised when the demon slayer was revived and began to fight again with a “Musical Score” attack using his unique skills as the Sound Hashira. With Tanjiro’s help, Gyutaro was defeated, along with his sister, Daki.

This battle is definitely a true fan-favorite. The scene is so well-loved due to its impressive nature, since the slayers are fighting a menacing Upper Rank demon. The animation is aesthetically pleasing and truly brings the fight to life. This was also the first time Tengen’s new “Musical Score” technique was unleashed on an enemy, giving him a one of a kind ability. For these reasons, this is one of Demon Slayer‘s best anime fights.
