There are some really fun Easter eggs to be found within various LEGO Star Wars sets. Currently celebrating LEGO’s 25th anniversary with Star Wars, the popular toy company has made hundreds of models inspired by iconic ships, characters, and locales from the galaxy far, far away. However, some sets rise above with impressive attention to detail and some great nods for fans.
As seen in a range of sets from across the Star Wars timeline, it’s abundantly clear that LEGO has a great team of designers, many of whom must be Star Wars fans themselves considering some of the exciting Easter eggs and hidden references that can be discovered while building, some of which can’t even be seen once the models are fully completed. To that end, here are 10 of some of the best LEGO Star Wars Easter eggs in recent years.

Executor Super Star Destroyer | 630 | $69.99 | 0 | 19+ |
While building the interior of LEGO’s midi-scale model of The Executor, the instructions require pairs of differently colored studs to be together near what would be the bridge of Darth Vader’s unique Star Destroyer. As such, these colors correspond with the different bounty hunters whom Darth Vader recruited to find Han Solo and The Millennium Falcon as seen in The Empire Strikes Back. As such, it’s quite a fun addition that can only be seen during the ship’s construction.

To that end, the very same Easter egg was featured in the original LEGO model released back in 2008.

One of the more interesting additions to LEGO’s relatively new diorama wave of Star Wars models with its closing walls, the backside of the scene features none other than a place for C-3PO and R2-D2 minifigures. After all, they were the ones who made sure the Rebels didn’t get squashed. As such, it’s a very fun detail Star Wars collectors can show off by simply turning the set around.

Although a new R2-D2 model has been revealed as an upcoming LEGO Star Wars set in 2024, 2021’s R2-D2 is much bigger with a few more details and features. This includes a to-scale version of Luke Skywalker’s green lightsaber which is placed inside Artoo’s head. This is a reference to when the astromech launched the Jedi weapon out of his head and into Luke’s hand during Return Of the Jedi’s rescue mission to save Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt.

Released in 2019, Darth Vader’s Castle is one of LEGO’s most impressive non-ship models. An imposing fortress on the planet Mustafar, the castle also features a small dark side shine underneath with a Sith holocron and more relics. This ties nicely to the castle’s canonical history with the fortress being built atop a locus of dark side power as revealed in the 2017 Darth Vader comic series as well as the Vader Immortal VR game.

Clone Trooper Command Station | 66 | Retired | 3 | 6+ |
2022’s Clone Trooper Command Station pack is exactly 66 pieces. While that’s more than likely coincidental, it’s fun to imagine that the set was a few pieces over or under that specific number before some Star Wars-loving LEGO designer realized the opportunity for an ironically fun Easter egg with Order 66. After all, it’s a battle pack dedicated to clone troopers.
2 Mini Republic Gunship Inside UCS LEGO Venator

---|---|---|---|---|
Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser | 5,374 | $649.99 | 2 | 18+ |
LEGO’s massive Ultimate Collector Series Venator is for the biggest Star Wars fans whose wallets can take the over $600 hit. As such, the attention to detail and scale is quite impressive with this model’s size most likely taking up the entirety of most coffee tables. As such, the to-scale Republic gunship made using a handful of the smallest pieces is a very fun addition, helping show off the sheer size of the cruiser in the Star Wars canon.
1 Echo Base Sticker Inside UCS AT-AT

Name | Piece Count | Price | Minifigures | Ages |
---|---|---|---|---|
AT-AT | 6,785 | $849.99 | 9 | 19+ |
LEGO’s UCS AT-AT is just as impressive as the Republic Venator as well as the UCS Millennium Falcon. To that end, the interior of the AT-AT’s head features a sticker that depicts the Rebellion’s Echo Base and its shield generator, the Imperial walker’s primary target during the Battle of Hoth as seen in The Empire Strikes Back. To that end, it’s certainly one of the best LEGO Star Wars Easter eggs that have been added to sets over the years.
