John Wick is one of the most skilled assassins in movie history. As Wick is one of the most skilled hitmen in movie history, it comes as no surprise that Wick is an incredible shot with firearms, he is able to shoot people with insane accuracy, such as the Doctor in John Wick 3.
In addition to being a brilliant marksman, Wick is also a highly skilled martial artist and this allows him to take on bigger and stronger foes, and even huge groups of enemies. That being said, Wick is not superpowered and he can be beaten. This article will list 10 action movie villains who could beat John Wick in a fight.
Ra’s Al Ghul (Batman Begins)
There will always be comparisons between Liam Neeson’s character in Taken and John Wick. While this comparison will have to be the topic of another list, we can still see a comparison between Wick and another Neeson character. In Batman Begins, Neeson plays the powerful and skilled Ra’s Al Ghul, leader of the League of Shadows.
Ra’s Al Ghul is a very talented martial artist who has spent his entire life training in all manner of combat. While it may be a close fight between Wick and Ra’s, it would undoubtedly end in victory for Ra’s.
Brixton Lore (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw)
Hobbs and Shaw‘s Brixton Lore is an incredibly powerful villain. Lore has been physically ‘upgraded,’ leaving him with increased strength, endurance, and reactions. Perhaps the clearest example of this is seen when Lore takes down a whole group of MI6 agents in just a matter of seconds.
While John Wick could win under some circumstances against Lore, there is no denying that in a straight fight only Lore would emerge victorious.
O-Ren Ishii (Kill Bill: Vol. 1)
Lucy Lieu’s O-Ren Ishii is a criminal mastermind who became known as the Queen of Tokyo’s underworld, a testament to her intelligence as a character. Aside from her intelligence, Ishii is also highly skilled with swords. She spent decades honing her skills with the sword, so it comes as no surprise how skilled she is with the blade.
In addition to swordmastery, Ishii is also a skilled marksman and martial artist. While it may be a close fight between Wick and Ishii, the two are almost matched in their skill, Ishii would probably have the edge to defeat Wick.
Bane (The Dark Knight Rises)
The Dark Knight Rises‘ Bane is one of the most imposing villains Christian Bale’s Batman faced. After forcing Batman to come out of retirement, Bane then lured the dark knight into the sewers and broke his back. In addition to being a highly-skilled fighter, Bane’s mask also provides him with constant pain relief which makes him very tolerable of pain.
If Bane can beat Batman, he would easily dispense John Wick. Bane is simply too strong, fast, and skilled for the assassin to handle.

There is no denying that is hardly a fair fight. Darth Vader possesses the force and a lightsaber, both of which would easily dispense with Wick. That being said, even if Vader was without his trusty lightsabre and, for some reason, refused to use the Force, he could still win.
Vader’s suit provides him with incredible strength that would allow him to defeat John Wick with very few hits. Even without the lightsaber, Vader could beat Wick.
Ocean Master (Aquaman)
Aquaman‘s Ocean Master is one of the best DCEU villains so far. While most of the DCEU villains have been angry big grey monsters in the middle of a firestorm, Ocean Master is an actual character with understandable motivations. Additionally, Ocean Master is an intimidating fighter as he is able to defeat Aquaman with relative ease.
Even if the fight between Ocean Master and John Wick was to take place on land, Ocean Master would still emerge victorious. He is too strong, quick, and skilled for John Wick to handle.
The T-1000 (Terminator 2: Judgment Day)
Unless it is revealed in a dramatic twist that Wick is also a Terminator from the future, it would be unlikely that Wick could defeat the T-1000. This killer robot from the future is one of the scariest and most powerful action movie villains of all time. This villain’s liquid metal construction allows him to create weapons with his hand, while also making it incredibly durable.
It would be a very quick fight between the T-1000 and John Wick, the best hope for Wick would be that he could escape with his life.
Thanos (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
Thanos is one of the most iconic villains of the past decade. Since 2012’s The Avengers, the Mad Titan has been teased as the big threat to the Avengers and the universe. When Thanos truly appeared in Infinity War, it became clear just how much of a threat he was. Thanos is incredibly strong, intelligent, and skilled in hand to hand combat. The Mad Titan even managed to defeat the Hulk with ease – a feat many thought to be impossible.
There is no doubt that John Wick would stand little to no chance against Thanos… unless he found an Iron Man suit or something.
General Zod (Man Of Steel)
General Zod is, essentially, an evil fascist Superman. When on Earth, he has all the powers and weaknesses of the Man of Steel, but without the moral code of Superman. Consequently, Zod would be a very difficult foe for anyone to defeat, especially those without any powers at all.
While John Wick could defeat Zod in a fist-fight if he had kryptonite (or the fight occurred under a red sun), he would be demolished in every other confrontation.
Azog the Defiler (The Hobbit Trilogy)
Azog the Defiler isn’t exactly the most memorable villain of the past decade, but he is certainly one of the most persistent. Despite losing his arm to Thorin, he is still one of the most skilled Orcs in the series, serving as the chieftain of Moria and earning a reputation as the Defiler.
While John Wick is undoubtedly the better fighter, Azog’s strength and refusal to die would be too much for the legendary assassin to overcome.
