1 Stranger Things’ Character Return Will Be Key To Eleven’s Triumph In Season 5

Stranger Things season 5 will see Eleven and the rest of the Hawkins crew joining forces again to confront Vecna and save their town, but in order to succeed, Eleven will need one character to return. Stranger Things is preparing for its fifth and final season, which has a lot of mysteries and questions to address. Stranger Things season 4 made some shocking reveals about Hawkins Lab and the Upside Down, the biggest one being that Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower), Hawkins Lab’s 001 subject, is the creature known as Vecna, who is in control of the Upside Down and the Mind Flayer.

At the end of Stranger Things season 4, Vecna’s plan was set into motion even though Max (Sadie Sink) survived his attack, but he made enough damage to trigger his plan. The Upside Down started to bleed into Hawkins at the end of season 4, painting a very bleak future for the town. In addition to that, Vecna wasn’t defeated, so he’s still out there, most likely plotting his revenge. Stranger Things season 5 is expected to see a final showdown between Eleven and Vecna, but in order to succeed, Eleven will need one character to return, but his survival isn’t guaranteed.

Dr. Owens Is The Only Link Left To Hawkins Lab In Stranger Things Season 5

Few adult characters in Stranger Things can be trusted, and those linked to Hawkins Lab have always been met with suspicion for obvious reasons, but Dr. Owens (Paul Reiser) is the exception. Despite working at Hawkins Lab, Dr. Owens has been an ally to Will, Eleven, and the rest since his debut in Stranger Things season 2. Following Dr. Brenner’s (Matthew Modine) disappearance at the end of season 1, Owens was appointed the Director of Operations at Hawkins Lab and was in charge of Will’s treatment and recovery.

Owens gave Hopper (David Harbour) a forged birth certificate for Eleven, which stated that she was now “Jane Hopper”, Hopper’s daughter. In Stranger Things season 3, Owens arrived with the U.S. military at Starcourt Mall after learning about the Russian lab underneath it. Owens later helped the Byers family relocate to California, and in season 4, he teamed up with Brenner for the Nina Project, through which they wanted to help Eleven regain her powers. However, Owens’ fate was left unknown at the end of Stranger Things season 4, but his return will be key to Eleven’s triumph over Vecna.

Owens is the only link to Hawkins Lab that’s left now that Brenner is dead, and as such, he’s the only one who has information on the lab, the experiments, Henry Creel, Eleven, and a lot more. There’s still a lot that Eleven doesn’t know about herself, her powers, and Vecna, and if she’s going to confront Vecna with the purpose of defeating him, she’s going to need all the information she can get, and Owens is her last hope.

Dr. Owens Might Not Survive Stranger Things Season 5

Owens returning in Stranger Things season 5 doesn’t guarantee that he will survive, as he doesn’t have a good track record. Stranger Things has had various death fakeouts, with Owen having two: when he was badly wounded by the Demodogs at the lab in season 2 and when he was chained to a rail inside the Nina facility in season 4.

Owens could end up sacrificing himself to help Eleven and the rest, but not before sharing all the information he can with her and, maybe, even helping her with her powers. No one is safe in Stranger Things season 5, and the writers could opt for saying goodbye to some of Eleven and company’s most notable allies, such as Dr. Owens.
