1 Small Invincible Season 2 Detail Confirms Mark Grayson Really Shouldn’t Be A Superhero

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 2, episode 3!

Invincible season 2, episode 3 features one small detail that finally proves Mark Grayson really shouldn’t be a superhero. Mark Grayson is the son of Omni-Man, one of Earth’s most powerful heroes, meaning that he obviously became a popular superhero of his own after taking up the Invincible mantle. However, Mark Grayson may not have what it takes to be a true hero, as one Invincible season 2 detail shows just how naive he truly is.

Invincible season 2 is finally here, with the highly-anticipated continuation of Amazon Prime Video’s beloved animated superhero series now releasing on the streaming service. Invincible season 2 has managed to fit a lot into only a few episodes, with it promising to follow up on the battle between Invincible and Omni-Man in Chicago while also introducing all-new characters like Shapesmith, Bulletproof, and Invincible season 2’s main villain, Angstrom Levy. Although Mark Grayson should be growing throughout season 2, Invincible just showed off how incompetent he actually is at his job.

Mark Really Should Have Predicted Omni-Man’s Invincible Season 2 Return

Invincible season 2, episode 3 featured the long-awaited return of Omni-Man, and Mark really should have been able to predict it. At the end of the episode, a Thraxan alien comes down disguised as Mark’s favorite comic book character, Seance Dog. After a brief fight, the alien explains that the planet Thraxa is being devastated by asteroids and that Invincible is the only one who can save them. Upon arriving on Thraxa, however, Mark discovers that it was a trap, as Omni-Man has become the king of the Thraxans.

Although the events that got Mark to the planet were weird, they obviously prove that Omni-Man was behind the Thraxan trap. The alien showing up as one of Mark’s favorite comic characters is a huge red flag, as a Thraxan wouldn’t know Mark’s love of the character unless they knew someone who knew of it. It seems obvious that Omni-Man told the Thraxan this detail, something that Mark should have caught onto. Even the alien knowing Mark’s secret identity was a dead giveaway, as Mark had been pretty secret about his life as Invincible.

Mark’s Naivety Confirms Cecil Is Right About Invincible

1 Small Invincible Season 2 Detail Confirms Mark Grayson Really Shouldn’t Be A Superhero

Invincible season 2 has focused on a conflict between Invincible and Cecil Stedman, one that only arose after Mark’s fight with Omni-Man. Cecil believes that Mark isn’t ready to be a superhero, fearing that he may turn out like his father. Mark, on the other hand, believes that he is mature and ready to fly major solo missions once again.

Mark not catching onto his father’s trap proves that Cecil was right, as most superheroes would have noticed the red flags. Cecil explicitly told Mark not to go to Thraxa, but Mark ignored him, playing into Cecil’s fears about Invincible as a hero. Mark may continue to grow as a hero throughout the series, but as of Invincible season 2, episode 3, he simply isn’t ready.
