1 Major Glass Onion Twist Was Revealed Earlier Than You Think

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

One of the major twists in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery was revealed earlier in the film than many viewers might have noticed. Andi’s presence on the island was seen as a puzzle by the Disrupters from the beginning of Glass Onion. However, the real mystery was not why Andi joined the others on Miles’ private island but what was Andi’s real identity to begin with. As Glass Onion progressed, it was revealed that Helen, Andi’s twin sister, was impersonating Andi to uncover the mystery of her twin’s death and find her sister’s killer.

While Glass Onion featured multiple twists, none was more central to the plot than the Andi and Helen twist, which was revealed to the audience halfway through the film. As it appeared that Andi was seemingly killed, the movie flashbacked to show its viewers the entire plot from Helen’s perspective. The viewer discovered that not only was Andi murdered before the group’s trip to Greece but that her twin sister Helen was determined to find out the truth about the crime. However, looking closely at Glass Onion reveals this big twist was hinted at more than once earlier in the film.

Blanc Uses Andi’s Name Before Glass Onion’s Helen Twist

1 Major Glass Onion Twist Was Revealed Earlier Than You Think

Before Helen’s real identity was revealed to the audience, there was a giveaway moment earlier in Glass Onion that suggested she was not Andi after all. Helen met with Blanc after the power outage which followed Duke’s murder. Blanc was the only person who knew the truth about her. As the two reunited, Glass Onion‘s Benoit Blanc appeared to be in a rush to ask her something. Approaching her, Blanc called the character that everybody thought was Andi “Helen” before the audience had even heard the name, Helen.

This may be a small detail that many might not have noticed. Because Blanc mentions her name during a moment of high drama, many viewers might have missed it altogether, allowing this major twist to work and have its surprise impact while containing an Easter egg for those listening and watching closely. The fact that Blanc used Helen’s real name meant he was responsible for revealing Helen’s real identity before the twin twist could be properly unmasked.

How Andi Mentions Her Sister’s Death To The Disrupters Before The Twist

Janelle Monae as Helen in Glass Onion

As the audience found out during Glass Onion‘s ending, Blanc knew about Helen’s entire story beforehand, and it made sense that he would call her Helen when nobody was watching. However, Glass Onion‘s other characters assumed the woman joining them on Miles’ private island was Andi. In another hint, Helen mentioned her sister’s death when talking to the Disrupters when neither the audience nor the characters knew anything about Andi’s murder yet.

Andi argued with the other Glass Onion characters during Miles’ dinner party about how they betrayed Andi during the trial to favor Miles. As the conversation became heated and Claire suggested that even Andi profited off Glass Onion‘s Miles and Alpha before their fall-out, Helen, posing as Andi, said, “my life was taken away from me by someone, by everyone in this room.” Although she was the only one to know that Andi’s life was taken by one of the Disrupters, this line had a double meaning, hinting at one of Glass Onion‘s biggest twists.
