The Scary Movie franchise was massive in the early 2000s, hilariously poking fun at classic horror movies and modern releases alike. With stars like Anna Faris and Regina Hall at the helm, it’s little surprise Scary Movie and its sequels took off the way they did — though the excitement surrounding the series dwindled with later installments. Still, the franchise’s parodies of movies like Scream and The Ring remain recognizable and iconic to this day.
And it looks like Paramount and Miramax are hoping to reignite interest in the franchise, with a Scary Movie reboot planned for 2025. The last installment came out over a decade ago, so there’s plenty of new material to parody. Plenty of original horror movies and franchises have debuted since Scary Movie 5, and there are more modern reboots as well.
